Very Nice Film

This was a really sweet film in spite of (spoiler alert!) its sad ending. We Americans seem to always want our movies to end with "and they lived happily ever after" but most European films do not end that way. This film is no exception. And though the film is unrated, it could easily have been rated PG-13 as there isn't really any sex or excessive nudity. If that's what you are hoping for, you'll be disappointed. Would I recommend it? Absolutely.
A Swiss Film with a Universal Message.

Most professional sports still maintain the gay taboo. Gay players usually must choose between being in love or succeeding in the game by faking their love life. This poignant depiction of that ongoing tragedy right below the surface of professional sport carries you right along through its entire 2+ hours. Players need to come out in greater numbers (more likely in Europe & Canada than the USA). One of the best gay films in years, though there have been a lot of very good ones lately.

Great script, great acting and filled with life lessons. We choose our paths. We can be true to ourselves and be happy or try to be what we think others expect and be sad. Some mistakes can be fixed, other cannot. While sometimes sad, I believe this film portrays a poor choice that is very common today. I am glad for some reason I bought this film instead or renting it. I am sure I will watch it a few more times. There is just too much to learn for just one viewing.
Acting Tour de Force

Yet another nice acting stunner from the talented Max Hubacher (he was mesmerizing in The Captain last year). Beautiful film in which the main character grows in emotional power and statute in dealing with his sexuality and the passion for the manic game of soccer. The overpowering oppression of game of soccer in the modern macho world is akin to the religious oppression of the middle ages. The youth's struggle is poignantly and erotically well captured. Lucky young gay men who grow up these days with the gay film arts of this quality. Superb film!
