Hard time putting this book down and...
Reviewed in the United States on 21 May 2018Verified Purchase
...after the first book, of this series, I had to get Through the Knothole. I'm pretty sure I will be getting the third book. I seldom buy all the books, of a series and and I am very stingy, with my 5 stars. This book was great, clean, fun, funny, a bit scary and some violence (nothing graphic). It was spiritual without being preachy. The characters had flaws and that's what made them interesting. My favorite is Aunt Ulna. What a hoot! However, let me say this why does the author call women, in their 60s and 70s "old" women? I am 72 and don't feel old..well except for some bones and creaks and moans. Loved this book!

Great Characters and Storyline!

I fell in love with this series in book one and quickly purchased the remaining books. This one took me a little longer to get invested in—I liked the “church” setting on book one better—but the ever-entertaining Aunt Ula and the swerve at the end (although, didn’t we all know Lazlo was a final along) made it worth it! She has a way of embedding such deep truths in her novels!

Lessons of Life

Kay McCabe was my favorite character from Book 1 of the Lutheran Ladies Circle series. This novel features her as she makes life changes, such as being laid off after the company down-sized and having her sons move in with her ex-husband while she opens her home to tornado survivors Vera and her Aunt Ula. The story unfolds as Kate restructures her life despite unwanted advice and wanted attention from a handsome stranger. While I enjoyed reading this novel, I am not interested in the other characters to continue the series at this time. It's an easy and entertaining read.

Easy, pleasant read
Reviewed in the United States on 3 June 2014Verified Purchase
These books are occasionally funny, occasionally entertaining, and an easy, mindless read for sitting in the sun, relaxing in the tub, or chillin' poolside, They don't require deep thought, are not hard to follow, and have basically likeable characters. I'm not wildly religious and though parts of the book felt preachy, I didn't think it was overtly so, even considering that the title of the books include the word "Lutheran."
I enjoy the character of Kay but find Vera highly annoying and Aunt Ula preposterous. I'll probably keep reading, just because I'm dying to find out what is in Seattle that Aunt Ula needs to have.
If you're looking for exciting characters and thrilling plots, these are not the books for you. If you just want something to keep your eyes busy while your mind soaks up the sun, these stories are perfect.

Super Good

The Lutheran Ladies Circle: Through the Knothole is the second in the Lutheran Ladies series by Kris Knorr. This book, along with the others that I've read, is funny, thought provoking, sensitive, sad.......all the elements of a good read. You will enjoy following Vera, Kay, "LoWena", Aunt Ula and all the other Lutheran ladies in Stillwater, OK. You're gonna laugh, cry, and have a variety of emotions as you read this book.
