This was a great read. Dom and Lucky meet through a Grindr hookup, with Dom trying to keep his sexuality private given his day job as a pro football (soccer) player. Set in London and surrounding areas, I wasn't familiar with many of the places or geographic distances of them, but that didn't detract from the story. That said, local knowledge would have likely added to the worldbuilding given it would be more easily know what the demographic of each area was.
I loved seeing Dom and Lucky open up to each other, and begin to fall in love. I did feel the character development was a little stilted by them both keeping secrets, meaning there was more storyline and thoughts surrounding them hiding those secrets and feeling guilty or confused rather than allowing a deeper insight into their personalities.
While there are references to drug use, but apart from Lucky taking a Valium pill here and there, it is all implied rather than described. I was half expecting something worse to happen in regards to this plotline, but thankfully it was kept a lit lighter than it could have been.
I enjoyed the epilogue, and where their HEA was at that point - that they hadn't rushed into anything too deep and were still enjoying getting to know each other and their friends was lovely to see. I did feel we missed some important story aspects with the 6mth jump though - Dom's coming out and within that timeframe so again we miss that content and are just told what happened, not how Dom dealt with it at the time, or how Lucky wa as discovered and dealt with the sudden media attention as well. I wish this had been included, as Ithink it would have helped bring this up to a 5 star read rather than it being skipped and them just discussed as a past event - bit of a cop out really, to miss those pivotal moments.
I am looking forward to the next book 'Cash' to come out and see him what happens with him. I'm hoping we still get to see Dom and Lucky in that book too.
