Product Description

She's a survivor of the front lines of politics. He's a wounded soldier returning home from the battlefield. Can they place their trust in the power of love?

Nobody plays the role of perfect politician's daughter better than quiet, respectable math teacher Brooke Ellstein. But she won't be caught swimming with the sharks again, not after the son of a wealthy donor sinks his teeth into her and gets away with it. Still, political connections have their perks, such as heading up the governor's "Support Our Troops" pen-pal initiative--and getting first dibs on the smoking-hot sergeant whose picture shakes her right down to her goody-two-shoes.

When corresponding with sweet, classy Brooke, Shane Develen instinctively hides his commando tattoos and blue-collar roots--and he can tell that she's hiding something, too. But Shane knows he's gained her trust when Brooke gives him a blisteringly sexy photo. Then he's injured in an ambush and a fellow soldier posts the snapshot online. Overnight, Brooke's reputation turns to ashes. Even though he's totally wrong for her, Shane shows up on Brooke's doorstep, determined to set things right--and discovers that right or wrong has nothing on the chemistry they share.

LOVING YOU IS EASY by author Wendy S. Marcus is a December 2014 release by Loveswept, Random House.

Brooke Elstein joined the pen-pal initiative and became Sergeant Shane Develen’s pen-pal. After long emails back and forth, she felt she knew him enough to hand deliver him some sexy photos of herself on his next leave home.

But these photos get into wrong hands when Shane gets injured on duty. Brooke’s life crumbled around her as one photo ended up on social media and her students started commenting on it. What would Brooke do now? Could she ever trust Shane again?

And how would Shane ‘make it right’? Could he now? And he was an injured soldier now; could he fit back into Brooke’s life?

LOVING YOU IS EASY is a fast, super sexy and enthralling story. The romance was tender and sigh-worthy. Author Wendy S. Marcus entices her readers into the world she creates and makes them glued to the book till the last page.

Highly recommended to all lovers of romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read!! 31 May 2015

Loving You Is Easy is a must read. So many emotions came out while reading this book. The characters portrayed are realistic, the story itself is well-written, and it’s one of those stories that you get caught up in and can’t put down until the very last page has been read.

Brooke and Shane are characters that will stay with you, even after you finish reading the book. I adored Brooke as a character. She’s strong, classy, and rises above bad situations. She’s definitely the type of woman I would want my son to marry, so I can see why she appeals to Shane. Shane grew on me as a character. I love that he wants to protect her no matter what and stands by her. He’s strong, prideful, and gruff at times, but Brooke understands what he’s going through and cares for him completely. There is no doubt at all about how much Brooke loves Shane and these two together will make you go misty-eyed.

This book also deals with many important situations. One of the situations this story takes note of, is social media and I think the author handled it very well. In fact, everything was handled well.

Loving You Is Easy is definitely a five star read and I was actually hoping to buy this book in print to put in my bookcase, but I could only find it in electronic form. I’ll just have to keep re-reading it on my kindle. I already pre-ordered the next book and can’t wait to read that one when it releases.
4.0 out of 5 stars this story made me want to thank EVERY soldier in person. with a hug. 4 June 2015

I really liked Shane & Brooke, and this is a good story. I like that they meet as pen pals first & get to know each other through letters before meeting. However, I would have liked a little more insight into the letters before jumping into their first meeting. Altho I did feel their connection & chemistry, it would have been stronger if we'd gotten to read a few more letters before the in-person meet, I think.

Otherwise, the flow of the story was very good & the interweaving storylines peaked my interest for the next book about Brooke's friend Neve & Shane's friend Rory. And the FEELS are there. Sooo there! : )

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving You Is Easy 30 December 2014

Returning wounded soldier stories are always a wild ride for me. The highs of those battlefield victories are quickly countered/obliterated by the lows of returning home feeling...lesser than when they'd left. The physical disabilities coupled with horrific memories makes the soldier appear unstable. They aren't. They're just trying to adjust to civilian life with what is their "new normal", as Shane so nicely put it.

Brooke wore the girl-next-door facade very well. Too well, it initially seemed. I kept waiting for the mask to come off, for a bitter, spiteful, selfish woman to appear. It didn't because it wasn't a facade. That sweet, trusting, innocence she projected was genuine, and I found it hard not to like someone who was as open and honest as she was. The accusations she faced at the beginning of the story made me numb; the reactions from people in the community left me breathless. It was amazing how quickly people turned against her.

Was she hurting? Absolutely, but she had an amazing support team behind her the whole way. Her family by choice, not her family by relation, stood by her, protected her, and kept her up to date on the investigation after she left her home. Nate and Neve were stellar examples of how family by choice steps up to fill those spaces family by relation should be standing in.

Shane was another matter. The soldier who'd seen too much death and gore returned home a different man. Disabled and feeling like less than a man because of it, he was a frustrating character to like. But I understood why. She thought of him, took his injuries and disabilities into account, tried to help him with small things like untying his shoes, but all he read into those actions was how inadequate he was for her. He was incredibly negative throughout most of this story, and he wore those dark moments well. Unfiltered, uncouth, uncivilized. He lashed out without thinking, doing his best in those moments of "weakness" to drive her away.

Did she leave? No. *smiles* And I was so damn proud of Brooke each time she stood her ground instead of running off.

I love how Brooke and Shane eventually faced their pasts, together. Did you get that? With Shane, it took Brooke leaving for him to see how her actions didn't emasculate him, but showed how much she loved and cared for him. She willingly put herself in danger to protect him, not because she didn't think he could do but because she knew he didn't, and shouldn't, have to do it alone. Brooke's shining moment was more toward the end of the story, when she told her parents the truth of the night she was raped. The conversation and reactions that followed were intense and heartbreaking, but so worth reading. If Brooke hadn't proved already how strong she really was, those moments with her parents certainly did.

Ms. Marcus did a wonderful job telling Shane and Brooke's story with well thought out characters, a constantly moving storyline, and tons of emotion. I thoroughly enjoyed their romance and hope to read Neve's next.

4.5*

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving you is easy is one great read by Wendy S Marcus 7 January 2015

What a lovely told story about over coming so much. I really enjoyed this story about facing so much, overcoming so much what affects you in life. A soldier fighting in a war overseas becomes pen-pals with Brooke who is so removed from his blue collars roots and tatts but Brooke is stronger than her political background and rich roots. Having money doesn't make for a better life so distance herself from her family. She was never good enough for her mother. Sad. Over a year and pushing from Shane sends him some classy sexy photos which make it on the internet. Everything explodes and what makes it worse she hadn't heard from Shane for months having no idea he is back home and injured. Those pics were pinched and posted by someone else, he goes to her to do what he can do however he has changed, has a lot of issues physically and mentally. Her father wants her home, Shane wants her to go with him so he can protect her from the press. It is a journey of over coming mistrust, reaching out and finally going after what you want most in the world when two different worlds clash. One scene really hit home was the memorial service he did for his best friend... really touched my heart. A great read.
