Walsh Clark has survived a lot--alcoholism, the break-up his band, Lush, and the betrayal of the love of his life, Tammy DiLorenzo. Now Walsh is hiding out on a ranch in north Texas, working to stay sober and steer clear of his old life.

Tammy DiLorenzo knows how to be one thing: Walsh Clark's girlfriend. Together since they were fourteen, Walsh and Tammy are a rock and roll institution, and she's not about to give that up, even if Walsh has run away to hide.

When Tammy walks back into Walsh's life, the sparks fly, the heartache is hard, and the damage could be permanent. How much love does it take to forgive? And do Tammy and Walsh have enough of it to survive?

I really liked this book. Selena Laurence creates such depth in her writing, and it doesn't take long at all to get pulled into her storytelling. The emotions feel so real and her characters, although flawed and realistic, are just so damn likeable. When I read her work I find myself not only becoming attached to her main characters, but also the secondary characters who aren't just going along for the ride, they're an important part of the storyline as a whole. At the end I'm ready to move on immediately and find out what happens to them in the follow-up books.

With all the e-books out there these days I find it's a game of hit-and-miss when it comes to choosing a novel to read, but with Selena's work it's thankfully all hit. Wonderful writing. I look forward to continuing to support her storytelling.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love Lush sooooooo much!!! 15 September 2014

"I'm still human enough to be ashamed, still in love enough to be destroyed."

My goodness.

Betrayal and addiction are too powerful things.

For Walsh and Tammy, these two things have controlled their lives for way too long. They fell in love when they were just 14 years old, and they thought nothing would ever break them apart.

Addiction. It can come in many forms. For Walsh, it was alcohol. He started drinking at a young age and it only got worse. To the point that Tammy thought he would drink himself to death. With the help of Walsh's best friend, Joss, Tammy put Walsh in a rehab facility. But when she realizes that he will never be the same, what is she to do?

Betrayal. Tammy and Joss didn't mean for it to happen. It just did. They needed comfort to help them through this difficult time with their best friend. They had no clue that that one action would cost them friendship, a job, a band, and the love of Tammy's life.

After Walsh up and leaves without so much as a proper goodbye, Tammy is determined to find him and make things right. She follows him to Texas where he is working at a ranch that is ran by a couple that help people with alcoholism. Walsh was less than thrilled to see her, and he tried his hardest to get her to leave.

"Let's just accept that we hurt each other more than we ever should have and that being around each other only makes it worse."

Tammy doesn't back down that easily. She refuses to leave until they have worked through ther issues. But, some issues are just too hard to work through. Demons haunt you, and it's so difficult to recover completely. Let alone forgive someone.

"Have a beautiful life, pretty girl."
"Don't be ridiculous, Walsh. We're not done. We never will be."

Selena did such a good job showing a difficult side of alcoholism. Well, no part of it is easy, but a lot of people don't see the ends and outs of it all. My heart broke for Walsh. You feel for Tammy so much, too. But poor Walsh has so many demons and he puts himself down because he doesn't feel worthy enough for the love Tammy wants to give him. Heart breaking!!!

Tammy, that girl is a determined chick! Wow! I give her major props to handle what she did with such a great attitude. I kind of wanted to reach in a strange her a few times though. hehe.

I truly really loved this book and I can't wait for Mike's story next! Eeeek! More Lush, PLEASE!!!

"Just tell me-do you still love me? Even a little?"
"Why, Tammy? Why does it even matter?"
"Tell me, Walsh. I have to know. Please."
"As much as I hate it, Tammy...As much as I hate what you did, what I did, what I feel when I'm near you- I'll always love you."

4.0 out of 5 stars Difficult topic handled very well 16 February 2015

This is book 2 in the series about members of a rock band. I knew before buying it that I didn't love the h because she was pushy and controlling. Book 1 tells us that she betrayed her long term fiancé with the H from book 1. So it isn't an easy story to read about how they get their hea. The H in this book is a recovering alcoholic and is trying to straighten his life out and get over the h's betrayal. For him this meant leaving the h at the start of the book and moving on even though he loves her. This is so true to life and I know many addicts of any kind are warned to break unhealthy relationships in their lives. The h isn't easy to love but she really works hard to redeem herself.

+++Minor spoilers+++
I was happy that neither of the main characters gets involved with anyone else in this book. It's all about them and how they find their way back to each other.

Can't wait to read the third book
5.0 out of 5 stars More than Love 16 June 2014

Six months after their world fell apart, Walsh hangs on to his sobriety by a thread and Tammy will do anything to get the man she has loved most of her life to forgive her and start again, but love is complicated and it may not be enough to fix their broken lives.

Honestly, I was only going to read a chapter of this book to get a feel for it then start the series from the beginning, But after I started, I just couldn't put it down which is somewhat ironic given the plot is surrounded by addiction.
Selena Laurence does a phenomenal job of opening the minds of readers to show that past mistakes that seem unforgivable may be more about loss than selfishness and pulls them into the raw emotion of what pushed these characters to their limit in the first place.
The intimacy between Walsh and Tammy is heartbreakingly beautiful and the connection they share can never be erased no matter how much they keep their distance.

The writing of the inner voice of both these characters is flawless.

The dialogue is realistic and the pace of this love story is not rushed. This is not just about the isolation of recovery and finding self-worth, but also about repairing the bond of friendship and family because no one heals a damaged soul alone.
For the Love of a Lush is a sexy, intense, a little painful and heartwarming story that I recommend highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars I adore Walsh! 31 May 2014

It is no secret that Selena Laurence is one of my most favorite authors and has been since I read Hidden. Every book that she writes I read as soon as I can get my hands on it and it is suddenly my new favorite book by her. Lush 2 – For The Love Of A Lush is no different.

I feel like I am cheating on Joss right now. I love Joss. But Joss, now there is Walsh. I am sorry. I love him too.

We met Walsh ad Tammy in Lush 1 – A Lush Betrayal, which was actually Joss and Mel’s story. Tammy betrayed him deeply in the first book about the boys in the band and it all came out at the end of that book, though it tormented her throughout the story. In most situations, I don’t know how you come back from that, in fact a lot of couples don’t.

Tammy had a nervous breakdown.

The band broke up.

Walsh left.

Nobody could find him except for a couple of people who knew where he was.

Tammy wasn’t supposed to be one of those people.

Here Walsh was, off trying to survive the destruction of the life he knew while fighting to stay sober when Tammy shows up wanting to fight for what they had.

Poor Walsh.

This couple has so much chemistry yet they are so volatile. You know from the reaction between the two of them that something really good is going to happen or something really bad. It was just a matter of seeing which way the tempers were going to blow.

For The Love Of A Lush is full of so many emotions, Selena Laurence keeps us just hanging off the edge of “are they or are they not going to make it through this”? It is just everything you want in a romance book and more. I think this one was a little bit darker in where the characters were at than For The Love Of A Lush and it was perfect. There was so much guilt, anger, hurt, all of those emotions that needed to be worked through by all of the characters in the book. Walsh had so much he had been first letting go with alcohol and then struggling to deal with when he was sober that with Tammy being there, he had some darkness to struggle through.

I don’t want to give anything away while I go on and on raving about For The Love Of A Lush, so I will just end with, I LOVED it. I knew I would. It is an amazing book. Grab it and immerse yourself in Walsh’s world.

Thank you so much for my copy that was gifted to me! I loved it so much I have gifted more a few copies out via Amazon from myself to people.

Now I am hoping Mike’s book is next.

4.5/5 Stars

Ugh, this book did a number on me … but not in the way I was expecting. I was expecting for Walsh’s alcoholism to be a focal point of the story and, honestly, I really didn’t want to read a book about an alcoholic. Thankfully I didn’t have to. I read a book about two people trying to forgive each other as well as themselves as they attempt to salvage a once cherished relationship. Oh, and one of them happens to be an alcoholic.

For Walsh and Tammy, it was love at first sight. They were high school sweethearts who spent fourteen years together until one tragic betrayal destroyed not only their relationship but also the band and friendships within the band. Going into this book, I wasn’t a fan of Tammy’s but somewhere along the way, she gained my respect and forgiveness. I’ve been a fan of Walsh since A Lush Betrayal so it was difficult for me to have moments of dislike for him throughout the book. Trust me though, he earned them.

One of the things I like most about Selena’s writing is that it’s real. You can relate, sympathize and often times empathize with the characters in this story. Her plots are not far-fetched and ridiculous … she hunkers down on her characters and you live and breathe every up and down with them. I especially felt that way with Walsh and Tammy. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted two people to find their way back together more.

For the Love of a Lush is the second book in the Lush series and focuses on the band’s drummer, Walsh. The book can be read as a standalone but I strongly encourage reading the first book beforehand not only to be more in tune with Tammy and Walsh but because you really don’t want to miss lead singer Joss and Melanie’s story!
