This is a story of how Marie and her sons lost the love of their life. Husband and Father Rob. It is heart breaking and joyous to see how Marie copes with life after the loss of her husband and love of her life. I highly recommend this book. Because there is life after loss and you can still love life. She even includes a what not to say. Which is brilliant because I’m one of those people who put their foot in their mouth without meaning too so now I know what to stay away from when chatting to people.
This book is full of serendipitous moments; magical events unfolding through grief and love. The message is simple but powerful: the loss of a loved one might be impossible to overcome; but one can learn to turn grief into hope.
As this book demonstrates, grief can bring about unimaginable opportunities for self-growth, which not only benefit those who are grieving, but can also reach an entire community. Thanks to this book, many readers who are struggling with grief will find hope and beauty in the process of coming to terms to the sense of emptiness our loved ones leave behind once their lives on this earth comes to an end.
This inspiring book will give you tears of joy and sorrow in equal doses, so be prepared: you’ll cry and laugh with the author from one paragraph to the next. In my opinion, this beautiful sentence captures the spirit of the book “We sit in circle, in the middle of the big hole that Rob has left behind...” The emptiness is there, but so is the strength of one mother and two children being there for each other, starting a new chapter of unconditional love.
Firstly sincere condolences to the author. Your story is devastatingly sad but also positive, inspiring and uplifting. It gives hope to others in the same situation. None of us know what tomorrow will bring so we have to make the most out of each and every day. Without a doubt your husband would be proud of the strength you have shown and the happiness you have chosen.
I loved the title of this little book before I opened it. It is a beautiful and engaging love story. Marie Alessi's description of the moment she heard of her husband Rob's passing and the subsequent days and weeks after his death took me back to the passing of my own child many years ago. The raw grief she describes is real and at times gut wrenching. But although it is a book about grief it is also a book about hope. She speaks about her decision to make that conscious choice each day to keep Rob's 'spirit and memories alive with every single choice of love and happiness.' It is a story to encourage and inspire those who experience the sudden death of a loved one way too soon.
Dealing with grief in a loving relationship we wish we all could have this kind of love and then to sudden life changes everything turns it upside down and how we can be empowered to continue forward and to stay present with the ones still here and with our wonderful memories of our loved one.
This story is beautiful. The author has given us a candid view of her life after her experience of loss. She takes us on her journey as she negotiates her way through life again without the love of her life. It is a story of inspiration and courage. I loved this story it was just beautiful
Could not put down the book ... Reading this book with several tissues on hand. Beautifully written with humour and raw emotions, yet with a powerful message - Things happen in life, and we have choices on how to handle them! Thank you for sharing your beautiful story.
Loss and grief of a loved one is never easy to accept. This book is more than a book on dealing with grief, it’s a love story filled with beautiful memories and lessons that continue to give long after the person has passed. It’s all about choices and allowing love to carry you through tough times. Beautifully written
Reading about this beautiful relationship that finished too early and then the authors lessons for dealing with grief is so powerful. Knowing that other people have been through this and finding out how they have dealt with loss is a comfort.
I could not put this book down! The authors stoicism in choosing happiness and joy rather than bitterness and anger following family tragedy is a message we should all carry through life. Your story is truly amazing. Thank you xx
