She's waiting for her prince to come … but was he right beside her all the time?

Kristina Rose Maher wants to know why fairytales never happen for fat girls. But when she finds herself facing a life-altering weight loss surgery, she discovers she's willing to do whatever it takes to embrace life—and love—to the fullest.
Jeffrey Berkley can't bear the thought of losing the friend he’s only just beginning to realize matters so much to him… no matter what size she is. But he is also terrified that helping her reach for her dreams will also mean finally reaching for his own—and letting down his family’s legacy in the process.

Both Kristina Rose and Jeffrey must learn to love themselves before they can find a way to make a promise to each other. Will they finally be able to lay their heavy burdens at the Lord's feet, and trust him to bring the happily-ever-after they both crave?

"I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book"

Melissa Storm has done it again with Love's Promise. As with Love's Prayer, Loves Promise is a beautifully written sweet read following the journey both Kristina Rose and Jeffrey take finding themselves and each other. Melissa has an amazing ability to take the reader inside the hearts and minds of her characters and feel their joy and their pain as they find their hearts desire. If you love Christian fiction you won't want to miss this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Grove. She works at Mabel’s Diner as a ... 8 March 2017

Melissa Storm has done it again in Love’s Promise! Told a story about life if a story you want to read! Melissa’s stories are based on her real life and can be related to others.
In this story we meet Kristina Rose Maher, an overweight young lady that is going to have a gastric bypass to lose the weight she has lived with all her life. Kristina Rose lives in the small town she grew up in, Sweet Grove. She works at Mabel’s Diner as a waitress.
Also working at Mabel’s is Jeffrey Berkley. Jeffrey is the cook and is Kristina Rose best friend.
We also get to meet Mabel who is ‘mother hen’ to both Kristina Rose and Jeffrey.
The story follows you through life for Kristina Rose and Jeffrey for the time before the surgery and after. Through realizations about themselves and each other.
Through this journey you see how powerful love of friendship, family (biological and not) and God is. You also see that what and how we see ourselves isn’t always how others see us.
I saw a lot of myself in this story for several reasons, but I loved the journey each took to get to the point of finding more than each other, but themselves. Self-confidence isn’t something that happens, you have to choose to have it.
I know once you start reading that you will find yourself lost in the story and see a little of yourself in one of the characters.
Definitely a book I would recommend reading.

"Love's Promise" (1st Street Church Romance Book 2) by Melissa Storm

Melissa Storm has taken a piece of her personal life and written a timely and poignant novel from it.

With a society that is tending to be overweight and the addiction of emotional eating quite common, yet one few recognize as having, the author takes this starting point and writes about one of her characters journey through bypass surgery, the changes she has to make in her life from that surgery -- emotionally, mentally, psychologically, and physically.

The characters from her initial book in this series, "Love's Prayer," return. They are just as strong and realistically written as before. They are carried over accurately. While this storyline was different, pieces of the first novel were sprinkled in to allow the reader to "catch up" on any news. Given that, this novel is also a standalone, it is just more enjoyable having read the first one previously.

This is a well written novel that is informative, engaging and well recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Faith and Love Triumph 11 March 2017

Kristina Rose is a loving and caring woman. She's beautiful on the inside but she wants to be beautiful on the outside as well. She decides to have gastric bypass surgery. Will it help her accomplish her goals and improve her quality of life? Jeffrey, her friend, works with her at the diner. He loves to cook and wants to continue and with this job, but he's afraid. He doesn't want to tell his father that he's not going back to college and become a pharmacist like him. Does he have the strength to tell him his dreams? These two friends are at a crossroads. They are always there to support each other. Now they realize that they care for each other. It was touching to watch them open their hearts to love. I cared for Kristina Rose and Jeffrey. Their relationship was sweet and their faith touching. Their dialogue is heartfelt and filled with compassion and caring. I liked all the secondary characters and the setting. Melissa Storm put her heart into this story. This is a journey of personal triumph that touched me.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a must read , clean, sweet romance. 9 March 2017

This is a must read. It This is the most realistic romance that I have read in a long time. It was easy to relate to Kristina Rose, who had been overweight for most of her life, and had a bypass surgery. I have friends who have had that surgery, and it certainly changed their lives, some good, and some not so good. The most important part of going thru the adjustment period, was knowing and believing that God Cares, and her friends cared about her. Her best friend Jeffrey, realized that he more than cared for ;her, but that he loved her. It was a terrible time to proclaim his love, because he never wanted her to think he loved her, because she was going to have a new gorgeous body. For anyone who has had this surgery, that is a genuine concern. This is such a heartfelt book. I couldn't put t down until I finished the book. The tone of this book was not so much about romance, but more about finding out who we are, and not doing things to please others, but being true to ourselves, of course with the help of God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Romance 10 March 2017

Love's Promise is another wonderful book by Melissa Storm. She is a terrific author and you need to read all of her books.

Love's Promise is a sweet romance and so much more. It deals with the struggle to love one's self in spite of the flaws and imperfections. Of being true to who you are and not letting others expectations/opinions determine how you live your life. Of the importance of faith in yourself.

Kristina Rose and Jeffrey are wonderful characters. People who, if they are in your life, are a blessing. They are so deserving of a happy life and an HEA. I would love to see Mabel find romance in a future book. It was nice to catch up with the characters from Love's Prayer. While the characters from Book 1 are involved in Book 2, each book is a complete novel with no cliffhanger.

I highly recommend reading Love's Promise. And all of Melissa Storm's books. They are all fantastic.
