A young mother’s eight-year-old secret…

Anne Pichette is an eighteen-year-old exchange student who goes to live in Texas for a year. Rose Walsh, her host mother, treats her like a daughter and Anne believes her life is perfect. This may be the most touching love story I have ever read. Anne and Clint have to go through so much, so many trials and set-backs to make their love a reality that sometimes it seems as though they may never be together. But fate brings them to a situation where their love for each other blossoms and flourishes. Children and grandparent make all the difference!

The story will tug at your heart strings. The love making will make you happy. The sweet times outweigh the hard times. Clint goes through a metamorphosis, going from a happy-go-lucky guy to a cranky so and so, and back to the lover that Anne found so irresistible when she first met him. 8 years and an ocean separating them made them build up barriers around their hearts to keep them from being hurt again, but being back together again quickly melted those barriers. With the Elvis song as the title to the book, I knew it would have a happy ending, and I wasn't disappointed.

Anne had gone to Texas for her Senior year. Her host mother Rose was the Mother she didn't have. She had a crush on Rose's son Clint. It was one time in the back seat. Shortly after she returned to Paris she found out she was pregnant. Anne was going to tell Clint but got a letter from Rose telling her Clint was getting married. Now eight years later Rose comes to Paris. Rose is dying she asked Anne to come to Texas to be with her until the end and help her granddaughter through it. Ms Barbour drags me into her books from the first few pages. I never want to leave.until the story is do.

The first thing I have to say is that I love heroes who have rough edges that need smoothing... by none other than the heroine, of course. Clint is one of those heroes! He's a rough and tumble cowboy whose heart has hardened. Annie is just the woman to give him what he needs so that he can heal and love again. Right from the beginning, I wanted these two to end up with a happy forever future.

The children in the story, Max and Debbie, add a realism and a very touching aspect to the story. I couldn't help but love them.

This is a wonderful, slightly spicy romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This is a wonderful sweet story of love. There is sadness too but love over rides all. Love Max and his strong personality and his love of horses. Debby is as sweet as can be. You can't help but want to just hug those two kid's. Loved this book and so recommend any and all of Mimi' s books. We all need a little "Mimi time" to brighten our days!
