Logan Rutherford & Mayra Findlay were betrothed as children by order of the king. She’s only seen Logan once since; when they were still young children. Now nearly two decades later she wants to end their betrothal, she’s written him several times, asking that he petition the king to end their troth, but Logan never responds.
Logan has been travelling but on returning to Scotland he finds he’s inherited a near bankrupt estate, he had no intention of wedding Mayra & had planned to honour Mayra’s ever more demanding requests to dissolve their marriage contract, but now he must have her dowry to save his beloved Lockelieth Keep. The two meet in the village near to her home & there’s an immediate spark of attraction, Logan pretends to be his cousin Coburn as he wants to find out what kind of woman Mayra is as no way does he want to be taken in as his father was by Rowena..
An enjoyable light hearted read that often had me laughing out loud. The pace is good & the characters are well fleshed. Logan & Mayra are perfect for each other but he’s dug a huge hole for himself which looks as though it might bury him. A well written book that I'd recommend as it's a lovely romance.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
