Product Description

A standalone, contemporary romance about the ultimate forbidden love...

He’s thirty-eight. I’m twenty-three.

He speaks Spanish. I speak English.

He lives in Spain. I live in Canada.

He dresses in thousand-dollar suits. I’m covered in tattoos.

He’s married and has a five-year old daughter.

I’m single and can’t commit to anyone or anything.

Until now.Because when they say you can’t choose who you fall in love with, boy ain’t that the damn truth.

***

To a restless dreamer like Vera Miles, it sounded like the experience of a lifetime. Instead of spending her summer interning for her astronomy major, she would fly to Spain where she’d spend a few weeks teaching conversational English to businessmen and women, all while enjoying free room and board at an isolated resort. But while Vera expected to get a tan, meet new people and stuff herself with wine and paella, she never expected to fall in love.

Mateo Casalles is unlike anyone Vera has ever known, let alone anyone she’s usually attracted to. While Vera is a pierced and tatted free spirit with a love for music and freedom, Mateo is a successful businessman from Madrid, all sharp suits and cocky Spanish charm. Yet, as the weeks go on, the two grow increasingly close and their relationship changes from purely platonic to something…more.

Something that makes Vera feel alive for the first time.

Something that can never, ever be.

Or so she thinks.

Love, In English is perfect. I found myself dragged intot he word of Vera quiet quickly. I love that she was strong and honest and human, she had faults, hence she was possibly nearly the perfect character. Her journey through the book was emotional and she grew because of it. Mateo, oh Mateo. What can i say. He too has faults and he too acts like most people would love say they never would but until your are faced with the situation the truth is you can never be sure.
I loved that the secondary characters where well developed and were not just throw in there for the hell of it.
I loved the story line, the evolution of Vera and Mateo was sweet and the way it should be.
I loved that Halle wasnt afraid to let her characters do and say things that some might find a little bit much or wrong.
I loved the pace of the story.
I mostly loved the love. Its slow, sweet and so passionate.
I can only hope that we all find ourselves a Vera or Mateo.
Perfect read, highly recommend it.

It made me laugh out loud a few times, and go back to hear the joke again. The diverse range of characters was like a plethora of humanity, a patchwork of reality. It was refreshing, happy, new, exciting, a wave of emotion. I loved it!
I didn't like the fact that Vera was having an affair with a married man, and for reasons around adultery I hated some of the words that were said. In saying that, the fact that neither of them set out to make this choice settled some of the self righteous indignation I felt. Love is love, right? Theirs was doomed from the start, I knew it going in. They knew it too. And yet I found myself pining for them to get together, to make the first move. I'm not so sure I would have been so forthright given the same opportunity to find that all encompassing love.
Talk about emotion. I felt it, all the way to my toes. Their passion was electrifying. Their words were real. I felt the sizzle. I had tears streaming down my face, and yet belly laughed and guffawed at times.
I don't want to give away the story, but since there's a second book you've got to have some idea that they yoyo between what is right and wrong. Who deserves love, and who deserves pain. What is worth fighting for, what is worth losing if only to have had the chance to be loved and love so completely?
I wanted them to work, I wanted them to survive.
I'm straight onto the next book, Love in Spanish after this. Ahh., happily ever after...here I come. I hope so.

Decided to read this because I loved 'The Pact', but it's just disappointing me so far. I'm about 85% through it and can barely stand to finish it. I understand the classic formula for romance novels, but the Vera character is just so immature and not well formed; I'm just struggling to find her likable enough to keep reading. One minute she seems worldly-wise, the next she's just a petulant child - and sadly seems to spend more time as the latter. I get it, there must be something that drives the main characters apart, but the scenario that evolves is just not really believable and the dialogue is frustrating me instead of making me feel for the characters.
There are also multiple grammar and typing errors (words missing, words where they should not be, incorrect words used) which is just making it a tedious read. The only saving grace of the story are some hot sex scenes, but even they wear thin thanks to Vera's unbearable immaturity (and yes, I understand that she's 23 but she really is no match for the Mateo character). Only ploughing through it now to find out how it ends, but it will be a relief when it does.

I have found another wonderful author in Karina Halle.

This is a wonderfully written story that certainly engages one's emotions. This story is evocative, emotive, sensual, and heart wrenching at times. So often I imagined myself there in the story.

I couldn't help but fall for the characters Mateo and Vera, they are brilliant and very real. The way their relationship began and developed is beautiful. The secondary characters are well done also.

Even though the subject matter and storyline may be shocking to some, it is real and well told in this story. Not all marriages are good, some are toxic, some are dead, some are manipulative, and others are just hanging in there for the children. Reality is that life is complicated and messy, humans are complex and relationships are hard work.

I loved this story, I laughed, I smiled, I cried, I held my breath, I hurt, I rejoiced - what a range of emotions.

Thank you Karina for a great story.
