4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful 14 August 2016

What a great series. I really admire the author for tackling a topic that's often skirted around in MC romance books and that's the issue of racism. Even though MC's are known to have a history of being racially segregated, this issue is basically ignored in MC romance novels.

This book is the reason I decided to read the entire series and I'm glad I did. I loved the relationship between Echo and Dixie. II really liked the fact that Dixie was strong and she set clear boundaries of what she would and would not be willing to deal with as a girlfriend of a man in the MC. The love making scenes are also very good, and are diverse, some hot and steamy but some were sensuous and tender.

I really liked the fact that the author dealt with the social issues as well. There are a few moments when the issue of racism is oversimplified, I won't give it away but there is one line that Echo says in an attempt to explain his attraction to Dixie that sounds plain dumb, but in general the author did a good job tackling a tough issue.

I do hope that Stone, the Prez of the Kings of Chaos gets his own book.
4.0 out of 5 stars I love Dixie Rose!! 17 November 2015

Dixie Rose Dunn loves her dad and is brought back home to take care of him after his heart attack. Coming back home also means coming back to the Kings of Chaos MC. They were also her family and she loves them but she has been away making her way in the world for some time now. Now she is back and she will face her old demons and she will have to face Echo.
Joel " Echo" Spencer has lived with one regret . He let Dixie go. He had her but a situation interfered with him keeping her. Now he's a full patched member and nothing or no one will keep him from claiming her. The attraction that was put on a slow simmer has ignited into an explosive chemistry out of control.
Echo broke Dixie 's heart in the past. Echo had to keep secrets. Dixie ran from the pain. Neither can deny the sexual tension or attraction between them. Can they try again without destroying themselves and the club along with them?
For the Love of Dixie has a mix of everything that makes up a great read for me, laughs, hatred, regret, betrayal, and love. Shyla Colt's writing technique has a healthy dose of reality in it and I love this in a story. The story was fast paced and flowed beautifully. It kept me interested and fully entertained. It dealt with a real life difficult situation, racism, and did it without kid gloves and I appreciated it. Life is not always perfect and Shyla Colt tapped into that and was not afraid to stretch the boundaries of comfortable. I applaud that. Great job! Great read.

This is my favorite book in the KOC series. I have read this one at least four times and I still love it. Dixie Rose and Echo are my favorite couple in this series, what they have to go through to be together is heartbreaking. The loneliness and exclusion that D-Rose felt while growing up is something that some many young people feel. Shout Out to Shyla for handling mental health issues with sensitivity. Racism and acceptance are such huge issue in our country and both issues were handled perfectly. Echo is strong, sexy and totally ready to fight for his relationship with Dixie. While she loves Echo, Dixie isn't sure that she belongs with him or that their relationship will be accepted by everyone. Echo's dad is straight up evil!!. But Dixie's relationship with her dad is awesome. Read this book and then read it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Staying Up Until 2 AM to Read 17 November 2015

In my opinion, this is one of Shyla's best yet. I stayed up entirely too late finishing the book, but it was so worth it.

Told in alternating POV, which I love, you get to know Dixie and Echo. What's fascinating about the story to me are the flashbacks to the get to know what makes each character tick. There wasn't an 'insta-love' here...they had to work for everything they got.

The racism that is talked about in the novel is heartbreaking...the effect it has on Dixie is well written. I cried several times while reading about her tribulations. The fact that Echo doesn't understand what she went through at first is SO realistic and well written.
