Product Description

From New York Times Bestseller Alessandra Torre...
You know girls like me. You hate girls like me. The privileged blonde who skips her Ivy League classes when she's had too many martinis. The one draped on the asshole's arm because he drives a Bugati and screws like a champ.

I was that girl. I loved being that girl.
Then, my door was broken in. Literally.
And in that moment? Everything changed.

WARNING: This sexy standalone has jaw-dropping moments, crazy sexual chemistry, and will make your cheeks hurt from smiling. Read at your own risk.

I was a bit disappointed in this book. Yeah, it was readable. Not horrible. But the story was a bit disjointed and didn't hang together that well. There were some random characters in there that didn't seem to have that much to do with anything else. I also didn't like that there were several contenders for Chloe's main love interest. As a reader, I'm conventional enough to want to know which two are going to end up together from the start (or close to). It creates great romantic build-up and tension. It's harder to get invested in characters if you're not really sure whether they're just a side interest. It also took quite a long time for any real romantic action to occur, and by that point I was getting a bit sick of Chloe's shenanigans. I was also unconvinced by her 'job'. Yeah, she needed the money, but really? I couldn't really respect a character who stayed with that job and also acted the way she did to her boss's husband. She was just a bit too ditzy for me to really get hooked by the book.

When reading this book I didn't realise it originated in a magazine serial, but after finding that out, it made a whole lot of sense. You could see the characters and story points that must have been introduced for various episodes and cliff hangers. Having said that, Ms Torre has made a fair stab at uniting it all into a novel, but IMO it's not her best book. I think I'll go back and reread Hollywood Dirt. Far superior book.

Chloe reminded me a lot of the ex rich girl in Two Broke Girls at first. I watched with fasination her struggle to come to terms with ordinary people's ordinary problems and eventually prevail. Her moral dilemmas and her emotional ones sorted with her besties by her side. As for her little love triangle well obviously the better man won but I'd still like to know how the other one faired. He was too easy to forgive because he wasn't really that bad. Maybe he just needed a few life lessons like Chloe to bring him to his senses. Overall I really enjoyed this book it was well written and fast paced enough to keep me interested without leaping about and losing me. I think I mostly enjoyed the support character sub plots. They were fun and if Ms Torre you ever decide to enlighten me on what happens next I would be greatly interested.

I really liked this book. At first I thought I wasn't going to like Chloe but by the end I found that I wanted to read more about her. I like Alessandra Torre's writing and look forward to reading more of her books
