Product description

"In elegant prose, Ann Mah spreads before her readers a sumptuous feast--a gripping mystery, a heartfelt love story, and a fascinating historical account. From the Back Cover

Kate's life as a sommelier in San Francisco is far removed from the French vineyard her mother turned her back on a generation ago. Her shaky knowledge of Burgundy vintages has been acceptable--until now, as she faces her final attempt at passing the notoriously difficult Master of Wine examination. And so, Kate returns to the vineyard to help with the harvest and study the local wine, all while hoping to avoid Jean-Luc, a neighboring winemaker and her first love.

But Kate's plans are upended when she discovers a secret room in the basement of the vineyard house containing World War II Resistance pamphlets, a stash of invaluable wine, and the belongings of a long-lost great aunt who was a teenager during the Nazi occupation. As she learns about her family's life in Vichy France, the line between resistance and collaboration becomes razor thin--and Kate becomes consumed with dis-covering who her family aided during the war.

Told with elegance and compassion, The Lost Vintage is an unforgettable tale about reconciling the deeds of the past with the values of the present.
