Product description

Product Description

My name is Maya, and I'm not the same girl I was a month ago.
There is an emptiness I carry around in my chest now. A broken heart caused by grief.
There are also dark nights where I have trouble breathing as I feel the heavy weight of loss rushing through my veins, painful moments where I can remember my entire being scream in agony as I held onto my father's cold, lifeless hand.

Then there is always a hero to every story, isn't there? A hero who I despised from the moment he opened his mouth.

His name is Alexander. He is my inevitable I never expected to find. The one my broken heart leads me to. His existence, his touch, everything he did to make my pain bearable will leave a mark on me forever.
Yet, I know that when I'm gone, he'll only remember me as a fading memory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maya” I enjoyed the cat and mouse game 25 August 2015

This is a combo review for both Lost Prelude and Lost Heartbeats. No spoilers give but I must state a proclaimer!!....
Lost Prelude MUST be read prior to Lost Heartbeats. They go hand in hand.

“I still feel it. Do you?”

I choose to read this series by the covers alone. I didn’t pay any attention to the synopsis before I quickly clicked buy and buy. I started reading instantly forgetting my list of reads I try to stick with. I could tell with in the first chapter that I would be telling my bookies to read this series and come the end of book one I was do that exact thing.

“Maybe at another time this could’ve turned into something.”
“I believe it’s already something, Maya”

I enjoyed the cat and mouse game. I enjoyed that Maya was strong but when that wall crashed I was thrilled Alexander was there. Lost Prelude was just the kind of start two characters need to hook you so you continue reading. Yes, Lost Prelude is exactly as it sounds, prelude…don’t expect a marriage proposal. But expect a ride that will have you smiling and gripping your legs!

“So you aren’t like how you are with me with other people?”
“Definitely not.”
“God, I like that.”

Something that I am fond of beside the connection as the characters fall is angst. I love feeling their love and their power behind it but I also LOVE to feel other things. The angst given, it starts in Lost Prelude but the majority you see in Lost Heartbeats had me one happy camper. Even though I was upset with Alexander at one of the monumental times in his relationship with Maya I loved it all the same. The torn feeling for doing something he had to do compared to what he should have done was felt so vividly. It’s all about the old and new. How to make it work. How to make one the priority.

“I missed you. I’m here because of you, and I want to stay because of you. Since the first day I saw you, I’ve been slowly falling for you, and I’ve decided that I’m going to keep you.”

Having Alexanders POV in Lost Heartbeats was a prize for me. I had wished for it in Lost Prelude just because I was a greedy reader and wanted in his head. But, now being finished with both, if we had his POV in Prelude the elusiveness of his character wouldn’t have impacted the storyline as it did. I really didn’t want ALL of those answers so quickly.

I hate long series about the same couple because 90% of the time book after book after book you lose why you love and fell for those characters and your love for the story is lessoned. I 100% believe with the fantastic writing, the incredibly built characters, and the distinctive falling type of love they have that I really could read more and more of Alexander and Maya. I loved how it all concluded and pleased with how their life has been fulfilled, I just want more. Plain and simple and I must say wanting more rather than screaming make it stop is a huge plus. I fell hard for these characters and their story, I fell for the unique storyline and I fell for the writing that sucked me in.

I’m falling for you a little more every time you give me your smile, sweetheart

Unforgettable 5 stars!!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Click. Buy. Repeat (with the sequel). 24 July 2016

YES! I loved the emotions brought out with this story. The characters had this connection that felt so real that it made the story. Both characters had their turmoil that they are recovering from and with this they help each other through it without even knowing. It starts out as a quick fling that builds into this love that both are unaware of. Yes it doesn't fully end with this book. Yes there is a sequel. BUT BUY THEM BOTH! I mean it. Go out and buy both of the books since they are worth every penny. I fell in love with Alexander. Maya was a good main character that stood strong on her own but was even better when paired with Alexander. To be honest it took me about a month to make the purchase sine I was undecided about the content, storyline, and if I would even like the book. In the end, I don't have the slightest clue why I waited to buy these books! They are amazing and you need them in your live. Now.
4.0 out of 5 stars Not predictable 19 April 2015

3.5-4 stars. Maya is in NYC staying at a hotel because she is looking for someone connected to her family. Her world has fallen apart around her and she's in a dark place by herself, with no one to turn to. Alexander is also staying at the hotel and happens to be her neighbor. Even though there's an unspoken magnetism and chemistry between them, they don't interact much initially beyond eye contact and facial expressions. There's not a lot of dialogue in this story and it's not predictable where the plot is going while reading other than to explore what is happening between Maya and Alexander. Even their relationship lacks a pattern. I'm still not sure what to make of Alexander. He's really an a$$hole most of the time, but then he has a side of him that is completely contrary to that. Because Maya is grieving, she's in a fragile place but there are times where she comes across like she's ready to fight because she truly is a survivor. The story is entirely in Maya's POV and some of the more heartfelt portions includes the flashbacks between her and her father. Although Maya's thoughts are transparent, there's still a lot about Maya that is not revealed, and the same goes for Alexander. The writing was beautiful and flowed well, but I just couldn't get fully invested in either character because there was so much they were not saying despite heavy implications. Why won't Maya answer the question that Alexander keeps asking her and has Alexander really moved on from his previous relationship? What will happen when it's time for one of them to leave the hotel?

about 2 hours... that was how long it took me to devour this book.
half a box of kleenex was required to get me through it.

WOW!! Ella Maise is a newer author and certainly new to me.
The Book Nuts told me too - it's all Kelley's fault.... and while I am glad she did, she'll be getting a bill for a box of kleenex.

Okay so enough about the tears and....yup more tears...

I could relate to this book. Though I didn't have quite the emotional attachment to my father as Maya did, it wasn't all that long ago that I experienced something very similar, but MAN, what a way to cope.

I don't like spoilers... so I won't give you any.
This book made me laugh, cry, roll my eyes a few times and even shiver with anticipation of what crazy nonsense Alexander was going to pull next. The Author delivered a magnificent story that had me hooked from 6% going forward and I highly recommend this book to anyone.

Oh - yeah there is a cliffhanger - thank god book 2 was out.. because yeah, I stayed up til 2:30 in the morning reading both books!

Well Done Ella - you're well on your way!

This is the first book in a long time that completely captivated me from the beginning. From word one I was addicted Alexander and Maya we just perfectly flawed. I found myself sucked into their story. I was reading everywhere I went work, home, red lights , and waiting in traffic I simply could not stop until I finished. I'm so glad I didn't read this until the second book was out I'm not sure my heart could withstand the waiting.

This book will make you feel every thing from rage to bliss. It's will take you on a heartbreakingly beautiful journey of loss and love.
