4.0 out of 5 stars This author makes us care about characters who could otherwise have been hopelessly and sterotypically cliched 24 June 2014

As I began reading, I had thought "oh, here we go...another tale of a super-powered playboy with a past." But as I pushed ahead, I realized both Terry and Amy are both deeply wounded and vulnerable despite by necessity having to keep up strong and confident outward appearances. It was in this respect how art imitates life that I began to find the pair of them eminently relatable and interesting. Terry has had to drag himself through the knothole in the fence to even be able to face himself in the mirror every day, and now Amy has come back into his life at a crucial moment with her own issues to deal with. I look forward to reading more, as the two of them will either complement one another's vulnerabilities or permit them to develop into the cracks along which their relationship will snap in two.

This is a paranormal romance. This is book two in the series. I recommend this for adults only, there is sexual content. I read this as a stand alone but would love to read the first book and any book afterwards. It is a captivating read and I could not put my kindle down after starting it. This is a short story, that left me needing more. I really love the concept of replacing Teriel's (Osprey) lost natural wings with mechanical ones. This is a unique read that is destined to be a awesome series.

This is the story about Teriel "Osprey". He was in a tragic accident that caused him to lose his wings. The loss of his wings has caused him to go into a deep depression. With the help of his closest friends, he is given his wings back. The wings are far different from before, but he is given back his gift of flight. Now he needs to pull himself out of the rut he is in and learn to live again.

Amelia Storm is a singer whom also has another gift, she glows hence the name "FireFly". The last time Teriel saw Amelia he was rescuing her from a possible situation due to her glowing on stage, which was five years ago. A lot has change when Amelia reconnects with Teriel. They both have been hurt, and been through situations that make them both nervous about what tomorrow will bring. Can they leave the past in the past and try to make a future for themselves.

Favorite passages:
"Firefly could melt hearts when she smiled."
"It was like having an itch you could never scratch and finally achieving relief."
"Being with Amelia made him feel alive, even his new wings hadn't managed to rebuild him the way she did."
"You have to be who really are on the inside, to be true to yourself." <3
"You laugh but being a super hero is hard work."
"It is both a nature spirit of air and an angel of new beginnings."
"The crescent moon and stars shined down upon them, at this, the dawning of their new relationship."

If you enjoy exploring what makes characters tick, uncovering with them their inner turmoils and struggling along side to fight off personal demons, then this story is for you.

“Lost Heroes II: Osprey’s Tale” could have been a cliché story with stereotypical superheroes whose flaws and weaknesses aren’t necessarily so flawed or weak. But A. Carina Barry’s characters are injured and uncertain and personally lost; they are fully developed and intriguing with a unique, entwined background. Teriel and Amelia are more-than-humans living in a world where that can apparently be a curse or gift. While the context of the story is what I’d deem sci-fi, that aspect plays only a supporting role.

Barry masterfully guides us through an up-close and intimate look at two scarred warriors who are struggling to find their way through life post battle and not having done such a good job of it. Their reunion after 5 years apart is filled with landmines and snares. Can they navigate the dangers to find a different path? Perhaps one together?

Watching Teriel and Amelia traverse their new battlefield of a possible relationship engaged me completely, connected with me emotionally, and kept me wondering if things would actually work out. Kept me hooked to the very last page!

Very good romance novel as told by the male, unusual with a taste of angelic hero who wants to be worthy of love but is very afraid he is not. This is my first taste of A. Carina Barry 's writing and it left me with a thirst for more. If you enjoy romance novels you will enjoy A.Carina work!!
