Product Description

Kate Delaney left New Falls, Tennessee, heartbroken and hell-bent for Hollywood. She’s spent the last ten years in LA, but is back in town, fifty pounds lighter, California hotter, and she’s written The End on a screenplay, which is movie magic in the making. Just one problem—a nerve-nuking thief runs-off with her laptop, attached USB back-up, and the contents of her underwear drawer—and as if that wasn’t enough, the heartbreaker from ten years ago just walked through the door with a sheriff’s badge and looking more hormone-carbonating than ever.

Quentin Taylor likes the new and improved Kate, but honestly, his feelings are anything but new. When a teen-aged Kate bloomed, her older brother Reese established a no-look, no-touch, no-anything else rule. Quentin figured it was the anything else that worried him most. Attractive then, now she was sex-on-a-stick hot, and he needed to know one thing. Was touching her still off-limits?

Despite a meddling, matchmaking mother, a gossiping dispatcher/receptionist with an obsession for orange, and a small-town burglar who steals thimble collections, garden tools, and underwear, Quentin and Kate search for her missing script and try not to fall for each other as they get Lost in New Falls.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Summer Read 11 July 2014

Sometimes, one needs a happily-ever-after, and from the beginning of Lost in New Falls you know you are going to get one. But the path to the end in this particular book is funny, charming and also deeply sad, but with a thread of hope and caring through it all.

Kate Delaney is the character many of us can identify with great ease from our own childhood experiences. The ‘friendly fat girl’ all through school in New Falls, Tennessee she and her brother Reese find themselves in the care of their beloved grandfather when their parents are killed in an accident. Tagging along after Reese and his best friend, Quentin Taylor, Kate spends her childhood and teen years being just one of the boys. When her growing attraction to Quentin leads to heartbreak, her path takes her to Hollywood, where she ghostwrites, writes for the occasional television show, and is now climbing her way to success. With a famous producer now wanting her newest script, this should be the happiest time of her life. However, her beloved grandfather is close to death, and she must return to Tennessee to be with him in his final days. Of course, with email, she can still finish her script in the cabin her grandfather once called home. Oops.

Returning to the cabin after a visit to her grandfather in the hospital, Kate discovers that her cabin has been robbed, her laptop, flash drive backup gone, and even her underwear drawer cleaned out. What happens next is funny in a mildly slapstick way as Kate attempts to ship off the rough paper copy of her work to her agent, only to wind up in a game of pass-the-football with her treasured screenplay. Everyone in town seems to be reading her work, but whether it gets to her agent is another question.

Cherie Marks characters are funny and charming, thought the whole “Hillbilly Red Neck” situation comes into play, but not in a grating way. The chase for the burglar is well done, and quite realistic overall, and the thief was a shocker – funny as all get out in the end, though the acts weren’t themselves funny at all.

This is a great summer read. I accepted the book as I admire Cherie Marks, a breast cancer survivor like myself. Now, I am glad I did simply because I enjoyed the book and want to read more of her work.

I receive this book in return for a realistic review. All thoughts are my own.
3.0 out of 5 stars Something lacking 14 February 2014

I enjoyed this story for the most part but there were some irritating parts that pulled it down. There are some excellent reviews and so I'll just say what I didn't like.

I understood why the H didn't act on his attraction to the h 10 years previously. However they are all grown up now and the h's brother is still holding him to a promise about not touching his now 28 year old sister? The other thing that truly gets me in a romance is when the H has been married to some skank before, so he'd been prepared to make a commitment to someone else but he now isn't prepared to be serious with the h. He tells her that he isn't going to marry her and this is way into the book (about 80% I think). This is like the 'mistress' theme in historical romances and it really annoys me. We are supposed to believe in the hea for these 2 when the H isn't even prepared to make a commitment to her. I wish authors would rethink these stupid story lines left to so late in their books because they damage the romance and the belief in the hea.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sexual Tension At Its best 9 January 2014

Lost in New Falls (Small Town Contemporary Romance) (Lost in Love Series)
Cherie Marks' voice sings in the book.I was fascinated by the way she put the words together to build the imagery. And it's been a long time since I've read a book that had really good sexual tension in it. And this one was steeped in it. I enjoyed that so much, as well as the frustration I shared with the main character when her screen play went missing after a robbery. OMG! It drove me crazy that she couldn't get it.
You have to read this book!
So glad I found it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute with mystery and action 21 February 2014

This book deserves three and a half stars for taking a cute small-town romance and throwing a good dose of mystery, a tiny bit of action, and a small twist at the end and making it all a bit funny. The characters are colorful. The plot shoots along just fine leaving never a dull moment. This is definitely a nice fun read. I recommend this book to people looking for light-hearted romantic entertainment that leaves you smiling. Not the type of book that will change your life, but one that might make a good distraction for a while. Keep on reading my fellow bookworms!

I couldn't put this down. (which did not bode well for me the next morning!) This is one of those books where you hope from the beginning it will be a happily ever after, but it keeps you guessing and enjoying the ride. The characters are well written, completely identifiable with someone in your life and you'll fall in love with them all. Thank you for a warm cozy read!
