A study by Cornell University reported that people in Chongqing, and some other regions of China, consume more calories every day than Americans, yet obesity is virtually unknown in Chongqing.
The author, Brian Cox, splits his time between living in Canada and Chongqing, China. In Chongqing, he used to keep a wardrobe of “slim clothes” and in Canada, a wardrobe of “fat clothes”. Within 2 or 3 weeks of arriving in China, he has to change to the “slim clothes” or he feels his pants will fall down. With the change in diet, the fat melts away quite quickly. There is no plan of how to lose weight or ways to lose weight fast...it just happens automatically. He has since adapted the Chongqing non-diet in Canada.
Chongqing is a city with almost no fat people. The author reported seeing only three obese people in a one year period (and those people could have been tourists from somewhere else).
If you look at photos of Americans and Europeans in the early part of the last century or after cameras were invented in the 1800s, you will see virtually no overweight people of any age. For hundreds of years, our diet seemed to prevent body fat from accumulating, but as the food industry changed and our diet changed, we became fatter and fatter, until we arrived to a point where body fat and obesity has become an epidemic. It not only destroys our physical appearance, it puts our health at great risk. Now, losing weight and fat has become a priority. For most people, losing weight without dieting would be highly preferable.
Things are changing now that westernization is taking place in China, but Brian Cox explains the traditional diet and lifestyle (which he believes is Paleo) that keeps the people of Chongqing slim. You won’t have to starve yourself...quite the contrary, and you won’t have to engage in vigorous exercise. This book will be the start on your journey to a new slimmer you.
