Product Description

Jaden Barker is a good boy.

For as long as he can remember, he’s been preparing for the day he’ll be called as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He’s ready. He’s more than willing. And he can’t wait to spend the next two years serving the Lord and his church. But when a new proclamation from the church is announced, it leaves him questioning everything.

Quinn Owens is trouble with a capital T.

An aspiring actor living in the bowels of Los Angeles, he’s fought long and hard to get where he is, and he’s not willing to give it up for anything. Working for a homophobic boss presents quite a challenge when you’re a gay man, but Quinn knows losing this job means losing his dream.

Jaden is lost and confused.
Quinn won’t let anything stand in his way.

When Jaden finds himself living downstairs from the enticing Quinn, neither are prepared for what happens next.

Will Jaden be able to resist Quinn’s charms and remain a devoted Mormon missionary? Or will he fall, finding himself face to face with losing his religion?

A very different love story, that is beautifully written. The book follows Jaden, a young Mormon man starting his two year missionary, and Quinn, a struggling want to be actor living in LA. The story not only follows the development of their relationship but also looks at the Church of Later Day Saints stance on homosexuality and the confusion and heartbreak it causes one young man.

Jaden knows nothing outside of the Church, he has been groomed all his life for this two year role and all it means to his family. He is struggling with feelings he believes the Church, or his family, will not accept and therefore is pretending who he really is, until he meets Quinn. The instant attaction Jaden feels for Quinn will make him further question his faith and himself. How will the church and his family react if they find out?

This is a debut novel by this author and I've got to say that it's pretty good. Though, for the first few chapters of this book I couldn't get myself fully into the story. But eventually I enjoyed it. I liked the main characters and the chemistry that was growing between them. And the writing style is actually really good. I hope you'll give this book a chance. ☺
4.0 out of 5 stars Never be afraid to question life 28 July 2017

4 Cranky Stars

Jaden has been raised in the Mormon faith his whole life. Groomed from day one to become a missionary and preach the word to other people on his journey in life. He starts to question some of the practices but pushes them down. He isn't one to make waves yet he feels his life is lacking in many ways. A vital part is missing.

Quinn is trying to make a name for himself in acting. All he's managing to achieve is no callbacks and working two jobs. He finds himself working for the biggest homophobe in Los Angeles. You see Quinn is gay and this is how bad he needs a job. He suppresses his urges to make ends meet.

This book at times was hard to read. I have no place for homophobes in my life. I'm firmly In the category that everyone is entitled to love who they love. I also don't have much religious training but once again I'm all for people doing what they feel is right in their life. This book was controversial but felt it's a very much needed read. I struggled through the first 40% with the book building momentum I was almost sad to see it end. All in all it's a very original book but go in with an open heart. You'll see true love at work.

5.0 out of 5 stars If I could give this more stars, I would. 28 July 2017
By Zeia Jameson - Published on Amazon.com
This is one of the best books I've read all year. It is powerful, original, and absolutely relevant to today's world of judgement, doubt and fear. An example of how ideology and tradition do not progress and shift as quickly or open-mindedly as human nature. This is a beautiful love story of two people who don't believe they deserve each other, each having their own completely different reasons. Reasons fostered by their culture and society. This book showcases bravery, not allowing shame to stand in the way of love - stepping out and showing the world you can be who you want to be and everything will be just fine. Love is love is love is love is love. This book will make you feel all the feels. It will stick with you and resonate for a very long time.

Y'all. This book.
Oh, man, this book.
LMR is s book everyone needs to read.
It's more than a fictional story. It's powerful. It resonates. Hands down, one of the most moving books I've ever read.
