Funny!Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2020
A traditional 'the shrew wife' story transplanted to scottush medieval times. Very funny for 3/4 of the book. I was totally laughing. But when the couple finally tumbled into bed, it's written very chastely and timidly thus wasting the opportunity to demonstrate the restrained pent up passion leading eventally to a far more descriptive shag. I mean the author tried but it needed more passion!! Shame that. Then it wraps up who was doing the raids abruptly in the Epilogue!! How bizarre is that? Screwed up a great story. Some of these Scottish medieval romance authors are super bad at book endings.
Awesome beginning, a little too rushed ending but nonetheless good readReviewed in Germany on 23 June 2019
I really liked the story, the first part was very well written, the emotions and chemistry between the main couple well described. However, I did not like how fast everything was conclued after such an awesome beginning of the book. The ending seemed a little rushed. Nonetheless, for everyone loving historical romances I highly recommend this book. I bought the other two as well and am excited to see how I'll like those stories.
Absolutely Hysterical!Reviewed in the United States on 4 June 2017
I've never associated historical romance with side-splitting humor, but here you have it: I almost died reading this book. I knew going in that Michelle McLean has a way with words, but playing witness to Sorcha and Malcolm trying to drive one another away has been one of the highlights of my reading life. The banter, jabs, and sexual tension...all fantastic. Even more remarkable is the author's ability to absolutely convince the reader that these characters are falling in love in the midst of all that verbal sparring. If they're fooling anyone, it's themselves, but the whole relationship is so organic and natural that it's impossible to believe they don't have actual descendants running around out there somewhere. HOW TO LOSE A HIGHLANDER is not only cleverly titled (read the book and you'll totally want to fist bump the author over that one) - it's the total package: heart-warming romance, brilliant banter, exquisite sensuality, and a happy ending that just might leave you wiping a pesky tear from your eye. I give it five outstanding stars and a sidenote that I'm officially dying for the next book in the series. (You know, if I recover from nearly keeling over from laughter over this one.)

The banter back and forth between H/h while trying to rid each other of their marriage was fun. I liked them both throughout the storyReviewed in the United States on 8 September 2017
This was a very entertaining book. The banter back and forth between H/h while trying to rid each other of their marriage was fun. I liked them both throughout the story. It was a bit different from the usual story. The characters were all interesting and well rounded. Not much on the sexual side of things. If you are looking for hot descriptive sex this is not the book for you. Luckily that's not what I go for and I was well satisfied with this book.
