Entertaining, Educational, EnjoyableReviewed in Canada on 5 August 2021
This Whit and Eddie story was a joy to read, from beginning to end. We get to meet Whit's Granny "MawMaw", a wonderfully eccentric but well-centered individual. We get a wedding, or two, with a surprising duo providing music for the second wedding. We get to see some loose ends tied up, and also some new loose ends emerging, offering the promise of more stories yet to tell. All in all, a great way to while away a very damp, forest-fire smoke-filled day. As always, Frank Butterfield shapes an engaging narrative with humour, compassion, and a fine grasp of history and its challenges for those who do not fit the parameters of what others consider to be "normal", in tandem with an awareness /appreciation of the various ways in which we are able to love one another.
The ending blew me away.Reviewed in the United States on 6 August 2021
Whit and Eddie continue their adventures all based around Alex and Klotz’s wedding. The adventures don’t have anything to do with the actual wedding, but it is a very interesting path to the main event. The surprise wedding at the end is a mind blower. So so good. Had to read it through very damp eyes. Do yourself a favour and read this one.
