A Sweet romance

This is a beautiful story we have two people damaged in their own ways who had a strong connection when they where younger Now they reconnect and the connection is still there but is it enough for them to build somthing with

Sage Highwater didn't have the best life after all she was not only the youngest Highwater but also the only girl but the one person she had a connection with was Scott Parrish he didn't have that great a life either and was constantly in trouble the only person that seemed to understand him was Sage When he was seventeen he got himself into trouble but a judge saw the good in him and gave him a chance but it meant he had to leave breaking Sage's heart in the process. Now ten years later Scott has returned a battle scarred Marine sniper to bury his brother, is there still a connection between Sage and him and can they have a future together when he intended to leave yet again.

A small town romance that’s strong on family values

It’s been fun going back to Last Stand, Texas, this time to watch the unfolding love story between Sage Highwater and the town’s former bad boy, Scott Parrish, back in town for his brother’s funeral ten years after he left. With Scott now a highly decorated Marine, it’s clear that he’s more than paid his debt to society but it’s equally clear that he still feels intimidated by those townspeople who put him down in his teens. Sage, on the other hand, is every inch a Highwater, full of confidence and ready to leap to Scott’s defence at the first hint of trouble. I loved her inner strength and the strong support of her family but I also loved watching Scott slowly discover his worth and take a chance on proving his love to Sage.

Lone Star Reunion is probably my least favorite book from this author, and certainly my least favorite of the series. The premise is good (young love doesn't work due to circumstances but they find each other a decade later) but it just didn't click for me. The pros include a united family, interesting characters, a strong heroine and a very likeable hero. The book had a solid start and the author told Sage's and Scott's backstory quite nicely. But then it languished and I repeatedly walked away from it for a while, which is unusual for me reading Justine Davis. When Sage and Scott finally got together quite late in the book my interest picked up again...so a great start and a great finish but a really slow middle.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series and ultimately reading about Kane. Ms Davis is still an auto-buy for me and I'm glad that so many other reviewers connected with this story.

I am loving this series more and more. It's just too bad there's only one book left in this series, or is there? I love the fierceness and sass in Sage. I'm not big on female characters who act all needy and whiny. So she was a huge plus, for me. We didn't get to know Scott in the past books, so I wasn't sure what to think about him. But as time went and we got to know more about the man he became, I came to admire him for picking himself up, and truly making something of himself. His back story, though, really tore my heart apart. No child should ever have to endure what he and Robbie were put through.

Can't wait to jump into this next story, now. I have been so curious about Kane, ever since he was first mentioned in the first book.

Sage Is Willing To Give Up A Lot For The Man She Loves

Sage Highwater and her three older brothers are a great family. They lost their mother, then their father and the youngest brother
(who disappeared after their father was killed), and Shane, at 22, stepped up became the father figure. Sage has watched happily as Shane, Slater and Sean have each found love. It doesn’t seem like a love life is in her future, but then Scott comes back after 12 years away. I really like this story. I really like Scott and the support he has from Sage’s family and some of the residents in Last Stand. I despise Scott’s parents. Even being a sniper in the marines can’t wipe out the memories of how his parents and some of the people in town treated him...and still do.

Ms. Davis is an excellent author. Her books are full of emotions and you are constantly moving from one emotion to another. Sage and Scott's story is one where Scott left town and Sage when she was 16. He has returned for his brother's funeral and Sage is determined to do her best to make him feel his feelings for her in hopes of a happily ever after. Of course there are demons that must be removed. Just a couple non graphic sex scenes very late in the book. Great writing.

I thoroughly enjoyed the way the family stuck together and backed one another up through turmoil. This book is definitely worth reading. It is very well written and enjoyable.
