Product Description

Locked Box from contemporary romance author Eve Dangerfield is a dangerous, funny, and sexy read you will love from start to finish. Julia and Max sizzle in this hot romantic comedy.

Julia Bennett isn't having a great day. Funding for her video game is low, her day job is sucking her dry, and to cap it all off she's locked in a police station with the very handsome, extremely married guy she's been avoiding at all costs.

Max Connor isn't having a great year. He's getting divorced, his best friend is squatting in his house, and his inappropriate crush on the IT girl is getting out of hand. And that was before he locked the two of them in an evidence room.

Surrounded by three decades' worth of drugs, guns, and floppy disks, Max and Julia are forced to confront the heat that lies between them with dangerous, funny, and occasionally toe-curlingly sexy results.

Content Notes: Hot, Spanking, Contemporary, Romantic Comedy, Uniformed Heroes

Eve Dangerfield is a master at writing smart, quick-as-a-whip, funny characters. This was a wonderful easy read. The steamy rating was definitely a 10 out of 10, so it's not for the faint hearted.

*received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*

AAAHHHH!!!!! God, I love this author and the things she writes. And okay, it's set in AUSTRALIA???? *fist pump*

This is the second book I've read of hers, and it didn't fail to hit me in all the right places. Julia and Max (geez I can't think without blushing) getting locked in the evidence room is pretty hilarious, but that humor quickly turned to more-please hotness that I cannot describe without getting inappropriate... but I gotta say, it was freaking Moto Motooo (it means 'hot' 'hot').

Julia is an awesome woman with her quirky streak going on. I just about died the way this book started, and I totally wanted to be locked up right along with them with the EXTREMELY HOT things that went on. Max is like a dream guy with certain problems. His particular hangup wasn't something I could relate to only because- well, for reasons lol. But I absolutely loved the way their story was revealed, teasing me with a snarky IT girl and complex hottie cop-on-duty, slowly feeding me a tibit here and there until BAM the big thing was revealed.

I was a little annoyed with Max because he kept breaking my- I mean her -heart but it was a good kind of hurt (damn masochistic problems). I'm glad this was as hot as Dangerfield's last novel, and it was just perfection seeing Julia and Max being different from her other characters but still having that deliciously kinky self-satisfaction of being all the colorful shades and hues of a Dom/sub and sadist/masochist. Wasn't too much emphasis on it, but there were enough hints to make this FREAKING PERFECT-*cough*

Really loved this book lol.

Really enjoyed this story. The connection between Max & Julia is great. I liked that the author had the guy freaking about him being that much (8yrs) older, it is so often portrayed with the girl or others not liking the differance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good story. :D 28 April 2017

4 stars

This was a very good story. I liked Julia and Max and enjoyed their story. This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I'll probably read more of her work in the future.

Julia is a game designer in her spare time but works in IT for the local police department to bring money in. Julia grew up with a drunk for a mother and it took a lot for her and her sister to get past it and make a good life for themselves. Julia has dated around but never found the right guy.

Max is a police officer that works for a department in a small town but is working on moving up. Max was married to another police officer but they split up after she cheated on him and they're getting ready to sign the divorce papers. Max slept around a bit after the separation but it soon felt hollow so he stopped that and is looking for something more meaningful.

Julia and Max both work in the same police department and the attraction has been going the entire time. What we find out but don't get the details on until later is that Max and Julia met once, about 6 years before the beginning of the story. They hit it off but something happened and they didn't see each other again until Julia started her job a couple years ago. Since Max was married by that time, they just tried to avoid each other. Julia tried to forget her feelings for Max, especially since he was married. She actually avoided him so much that she didn't know what everyone else did...that he separated from his wife around 6 months ago and was almost divorced.

So, when the story begins, Julia is inventorying some computer equipment in the evidence room and ends up locked in there. She thinks she'll be stuck in there alone but then Max finds her and she thinks she's saved...and then Max gets locked in the room with her. Since they live in a very small town, the police station is only staffed Mon-Fri from 6am-6pm. They get locked in at the end of Friday and know that no one will be around until Monday morning. There's a lot of awkwardness and attraction between them and eventually, their mutual feelings (and lust) breaks the restrictions they put on it and they end up hot and sweaty together. Unfortunately, Max doesn't quite have his head on straight and uses some lame excuses to avoid taking things further between them...into a real relationship. They get out of the evidence room but it takes some time for them to work things out between them (AKA: Max to pulling his head out of his nether regions). Thankfully, things do get worked out and Julia and Max end the story heading towards a HEA together.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Julia...she was a bit more brazen than I expected but I liked that she was willing to put the effort forth to try to win Max once she found out he was divorced. I liked Max but I really wanted to slap him at times because of his lame reasons for pushing Julia away. He really wasn't being fair to her and I'm glad he figured his crap out and got his head on straight. The story was a combo of humorous comments and dirty talk for the first part and then a bit more serious in the relationship area in the second and it worked well for me. Overall, I found this story to be very intriguing and engaging so I'd recommend it. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 STARS! 29 June 2016

Based in Australia, this story is very angsty, very sexy, and has a great backstory. All factors which make this one a very entertaining read. Our heroine, is the snarky IT girl, Julia Bennett of the Brenthill Police Department. Julia gets locked in the property office with her long time crush, Constable Max Connor. Max has been unattainable since she has started at the station, to Julia, he’s a happily married man.

”Love might be a gamble but Max Connor was a complete dead end.”

The sexual chemistry between Julia and Max was palpable. Max tries to resist the long time attraction to Julia but the truth is he’s not tied down any longer but there’s a reason he comes across so indecisive. The sex scenes were VERY hot though at times a bit over the top.

Once our couple is rescued from the locked room, Max's indecisiveness kicks back in and he pushes Julia away yet again. The backstory about these two was creative and added a great layer to the story.

”Jules…do you remember when we met?”

This is definitely an original, sexy story, and though the heroine has it very bad for the hero and just can’t hide it even when he’s a total idiot. The story really does come together in the end together leaving me calling this one a good read!
4.0 out of 5 stars Witty, funny, sexy, feisty, and well worth the read! 25 March 2017

Locked Box is a great romantic comedy about Julia, an IT girl working in a local police station with an inconvenient attraction to our Alpha Hero, "the best-looking cop (she'd) ever seen. Including any and all movie cops.” On his part, almost divorced Max has been secretly fantasising about the tall sexy girl with hair long enough to wrap around his hands, a backside he'd like to spank and a body he'd like to press firmly against any wall and ... well you get the picture!! And what a picture! Eve Dangerfield has cleverly written a fun and sexy romp with dirty talk, characters who have serious chemistry, serious doubts about their relationship and, where they're at in life. All this without being crass.

The story is sexy and witty with a side of funny, while not overly angsty. The secondary characters really add hilarious highlights to the lives of Julia and Max, and I wondered it there could be further development in a relationship between Julia's older sister who would have no qualms about setting their unregistered dogs onto a cop if he broke her heart, and Dean, the house squatting, porn watching best buddy of Max. I loved it, and recommend it as great reading. 4.5 Stars.
4.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to choke Max for continuing to treat Julia like garbage and then coming back for more 21 April 2017

Hot does not come close to describing this read. The story of these two is crazy and emotional. I continued to want to slap some sense into Julia and make her stand up for herself and demand some respect. I wanted to choke Max for continuing to treat Julia like garbage and then coming back for more. This is the type of book that digs into my inner core so I had to give it some props. And since this is my first read by this author I have to say it was extremely well written and a great story to go with some pantie dropping scenes. As much as I love my alphas (and Max is truly that) I prefer them to be much nicer and the women they love to be treated better. But since this author put this one together so well I may have to make exceptions where she is concerned and get over it just to read more of her work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Smut 22 March 2017

Some of the best smut I've ever read. Don't think too hard about the plot (such as it is), and there isn't a lot of character development. On the other hand, the writing is good and I liked the main characters even if I question that their relationship will last since it is mostly based on a prolonged sexual encounter fueled by a bottle of rotgut whiskey. I'd say it's a HFN, not a HEA. This was good escapist reading, and I will look for more books by this author.
