Product Description

Darkness is the only thing I see. Ever since the day my life changed. The day that everything and everyone I held close to me ceased to exist. The day I lost it all and the demons of my past consumed my every waking moment.

I tried to keep others at arm’s length. Tried not to let my darkness taint them. Ruin them. Harm them. And whether I want to admit it or not, as much as I wish I could keep them locked out, they refuse to leave. Refuse to let me suffer alone.

If I hadn’t been so focused on keeping those demons from flying free, I wouldn’t have missed how one perfect angel was able to sneak her way under my skin—refusing to let go. Making me want things I don’t deserve.

She consumes me. Her beauty knows no end. The love she promises tempts me every time she’s near. But that pure heart that makes her MY Emmy is the one thing I’m convinced I’ll destroy if I ever let her close.

I’m a broken man. A broken man with too much darkness in his soul to ever let her light shine upon me. But even that doesn’t stop me from craving her with every single breath in my body.

**This is the final book in the Corps Security series. This book is not suitable for younger readers. There is strong language, adult situations, and some violence.*

I waited and waited for this book. And I was not disppointed!! I loved every minute of Mad and Emmy.
Even though this is the last in the series. I hope Harper Sloan writes Cohen and Dani's story. I want to read about a grown up Cohen Cage and I want to see Axle lose his sh*t over his Dani going out with Cohen. Actually Harper how about we a story for each of the kids. Imagine it ladies, the reactions of our fav men when their little girls start dating and find love.

4.5 stars--LOCKE is the fifth full length and final installment in Harper Sloan’s adult, contemporary Corps Security erotic romance series focusing on a group of ex-marines and the women they love. This is Maddox Locke and Emmy’s storyline-a story of heartbreak, painful memories and haunted dreams.

Told from alternating first person POV (Emmy and Locke), the focus of the storyline finds Locke searching for Emmy. Following the murder of Coop, Emmy blamed herself for the loss of her friend and took off for places unknown. But when Emmy believes she has no other alternative than to return to the family who destroyed her life, Locke knows exactly where she is going and is determined to bring her home.

The relationship between Locke and Emmy is one of heartbreaking pain. Each has a past mired in abuse, trauma and loss but Locke is unable to let Emmy into his life-she already owns him heart and soul but his emotional and physical baggage may be too much to bear. When Emmy’s past catches up with her, she will turn to Locke for help but it may be too late.

The world building continues with the Corps Security team focusing on the protection of one of their own. The storyline begins with several flashbacks into Locke and Emmy’s early years-a peak at who shaped their lives and what destroyed their childhoods.

The secondary characters include all of the previous storyline couples although a good portion of the novel focuses on Emmy and Locke. There is an epilogue that follows our couples five, ten, fifteen years into the future with a hint of what is to come-Harper has plans for the next generation.

Harper Sloan is a gifted writer with a flare for drama and heartbreak.

I am a little torn as what to say. I loved the book it was well written. Sloan's writing has come a long way and it shows through in each book that comes out. Her characters are real and the stories are generally well plotted out.
I was kind of shocked that sweet Emmy was thrown into such a role that i kind of don't think she fitted. I thought at times her thoughts and actions seemed forced and her reasons to run home weren't really that great, considering she knew what she was going back to. Locke is brooding and dark and has his reasons to be, he transforms well through the book.
The secondary characters are all there and all fit their previous roles really well.
Its a great read, a little emotional but sadly i don't think it had the oomph that the other books had, i easily set this down a couple of times to do things.

Book 6 of the corps Security series. The final installment *sniff* of this wonderful series. Locke has been floating in the shadows, always there but never totally engaged with the group. Book 3 was my favourite in the series but Locke is my favourite Character. I enjoyed that even though I knew the characters of Locke and Emmy their story still had a heap of surprises. Emmy was not who I expected her to be and Locke, well I had him pegged from early on, but the way his journey was told had me hooked. I also loved the Epilogue......... So sad to have finished this series, but i am sure I will be re reading in the near future!

I loved loved LOVED it. Harper you are a brilliant writer and I love your writing style you bring the pages to life and as the characters go through the emotions you bring us with it.
If you haven't had the honour of reading any of the Corps Security books I suggest you start at the beginning with Axel as You will have a much better understanding of the characters and the way they work in their little alpha minds.
Maddox Locke is a dark soul that we get to see how and why he got there. Cohen will not dissapoint in this book either. Read it today

I had read the first 2 in this series than didnt get a chance to read the rest and jumped straight to Locke, I would advise you to not do this you miss out on so back back story and you do get lost at times but even still I loved it. I think her books are getting better everytime she writes one and i can't wait to go back and reread this whole series but mostly this one. I was hooked from start to finish and come on who doesn't like a hot alpha taking control and a woman that can put him in his place
