Warning - Make sure you have a box of tissue when you read this book! I was crying in the beginning, middle and end of this book!!

Kayley Carson is a young widow who just lost her husband and is pregnant with their first child. I can’t even imagine how this must feel but I thought the author did a great job of expressing Kayley’s emotions. Kayley felt the pain of losing her husband and the guilt of trying to live again, and I felt the author’s portrayal was realistic. Although Kayley is suffering she is a strong independent woman who is devoted to her family and friends. Kayley was surrounded by very supportive family and friends, who were characters that I were drawn too and really enjoyed getting to know.

Just when Kayley is hit with another crisis she meets Ben (aka Dr. Yummy). Ben is a sexy doctor who is drawn to Kayley. He is attracted to her but is very sensitive towards her recent loss, which I found very charming. He is sexy and very romantic, and I loved the chemistry he had with Kayley. I also loved his relationship with Kayley’s daughter, Alexis. It was so sweet and heartwarming! I thought the author made a great choice in including Alexis in the scenes and dialogue between the characters. Alexis is so adorable she served as a reminder that life does have to continue, and she brought so much joy to the story!

I really enjoyed that this book focused on Ben and Kayley. We do meet their friends and family, but this was truly their story. I loved getting to know them and I was satisfied with the ending. But I did feel sad at the end, I had grown so close to Ben, Kayley and Alexis that I hated to say goodbye! Over all I thought this was well written but I did feel some of the flashbacks were not necessary and did not blend well with the story. But this was a great debut for L.L. Collins and I look forward to reading more from her!

Living Again absolutely swept me off my feet. This is romance at its best. Each and every moment of this book was emotionally charged and full of love. Kayley’s story was all at once devastating, overwhelming, sweet, and heartwarming. This journey felt incredibly personal from start to finish and I couldn’t help but find myself fully invested in both Kayley and Alexis. When Ben enters the picture, all bets are off, because he is the epitome of classic romance. His words and gesture are enough to make any woman melt, but combined with his imperfections and moments of humility he is BBF perfection.

Ben and Kayley both deal with very different heartbreak over the course of this book. L.L. Collins made sure that the resultant hesitancy and fear was ever present as they navigated through their new relationship. The genuine uncertainty allowed me to lose myself in the story, enjoying the transformations these characters went through. I also adored every single secondary character in Living Again. You don’t just get a fabulous couple, but a slew of family and friends whose love and support knows no bounds. I couldn’t stop myself from being swallowed up by the vibrant and loveable characters that colored Ben and Kayley’s story.

This book is more emotional than I could have ever prepared myself for. I’m pretty sure I spent the whole beginning of the book crying only to find myself getting through the end the same way, but with an entirely different feeling. The pain and sadness that L.L. writes absolutely crushed me. She also knows exactly the right words to make your heart soar. There were plenty of fun and flirtatious encounters that left me grinning as well as just the right amount of steam to keep the chemistry between Ben and Kayley sizzling. This book will touch you, break you, surprise you, and mend you, ultimately leaving you feeling full and satisfied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Story 8 November 2013
By Marlene W - Published on Amazon.com

Living again is a story of overcoming loss and learning to move on after a horrific tragedy. An accident leaves the main character a single mother to her unborn child and forced to live without the love of her life. Kayley is going through the motions of day to day life without really living. With the support of family and friends, she continues to move forward, day by day, to make the best life possible for her daughter, Alexis.

While celebrating her daughters first birthday, Alexis needs to be rushed to the hospital. With all focus on her daughter, Kayley doesn’t even take notice of Dr. Yummy…I mean Dr. Ben Nichols as a handsome guy that is obviously attracted to her, she has conditioned herself to only live for her daughter and she only sees Ben as a doctor that is caring for her while in the hospital. However, her friend Emily is quick to rectify that by giving Kayley the little push she needs to be reminded that she is still a woman that deserves love and happiness in her life again. Kayley soon discovers that Ben also has a past that has left him with insecurities that he must also overcome.

This book brings you through tragedy, heartbreak, overcoming loss, insecurity and rediscovery. I found it to be very well written. Many flashbacks occur throughout the book which has been a turn off for me with previous reads, but this author was able to do it while keeping the natural flow and never confusing the reader. The character development was excellent. While the story has its relations ups and downs, it is solely based on finding love and building a family that neither one of them were able to see for themselves.

Now for the reality factor for me…Dr. Yummy is just a little too Yummy and too good to be true. He is a perfect love story kind of guy, but does someone like this really exist in the real world? That’s doubtful, but that really doesn’t matter because he is perfect for this story. I think that some parts could have been trimmed a bit, but we can appreciate an author that doesn’t short change the reader.

This is a HEA. If you are looking for a book all about hot and steamy sex, this isn’t it. If you are looking for an emotional read that contains loving intimate scenes, this one is for you. This is a standalone read; however, we get a glimpse into the author’s next book that grabs your interest. It seems to be a spinoff that focuses on Kayley’s friend and coworker Rachel.

I recommend this book with 4 stars to readers looking for a detailed love story with a HEA. I look forward to Rachel’s story and to reading future releases from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful heartfelt read.. 8 November 2013

This is really my kind of story - I'm a sucker for a tear jerker, but also just a good love story with characters who are older and somewhat established, or better yet mature. The beginning of this story is very sad and just heartbreaking! It's raw and Kayley's pain is felt deep as she is dealing with the death of her husband Alex, while also being pregnant with their first child. Kayley is surrounded by her family, Alex' family and her best friend Emily who are such a support system for her during her grieving. I also want to mention that there is nothing like a true best friend and Emily is great.

A year after her daughter Alexis is born she deals with another scare, which is when she meets Ben a/k/a Dr. Yummy. Ben has an attraction to Kayley, but is unaware of the devastation she has been through for the past year. Kayley is in no way ready for a relationship and somewhat feels that she would be betraying Alex.

I have a serious crush on Ben at the moment...serious! He is kind, understanding and such a caring man. He has an attraction and feels a connection to Kayley, but knows he has to be gentle of her feelings and her situation. Not only does he adore Kayley, but he equally adores her daughter Alexis! The interactions between Ben and Alexis are so freaking cute and that alone will melt you heart. Every time he called Alexis "princess" he moved up a notch on my BBF list. There is nothing sexier than a man who loves a child.

This is a great story of overcoming loss and it's laid out with such emotion and detail. Everything is convincing.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing debut... get the tissues ready. 30 October 2014

This is a wonderful debut novel that will have you riding the rollercoaster of emotions; loss, heartache, survival, happiness, friendship, and love.
Kayley thought her dream had come true when she married Alex, her college best friend. Like many stories in real life, happiness was not in store for them. Tragedy strikes and Kayley is left alone and pregnant, with her anguish breaking her to the point where she doesn’t know how she will survive. When Alexis is born, Kayley pours all her love into her daughter and neglects herself. Fate strikes and she meets Dr. Ben Nicols (Dr. Yummy), a pediatric doctor who tends to Alexis.
Their story is one of love for the ages. Kayley doesn’t know how to let herself fall in love again, although she is extremely attracted to him. Friends and family help her see that she is allowed to feel again and live her life with a man who shows devotion to her and her daughter.
Ben is just what she needs. He is sweet, passionate, and shows her he loves her daughter as if she was his own. This obviously helps in her decision to give him a chance.
I loved this story. Kayley and Ben have a love that knows no boundaries. They love each other wholeheartedly and help each other mend their broken souls. They are so passionate together, but also had light moments where their funny sides shone. Ben and Alexis had such a special relationship that made me oooohhh and aaaahhh… she is such a wonderful little girl, maybe one of the best fictional children I’ve read about.
I recommend everyone to read Living Again, but make sure to have boxes of Kleenex handy.
