About the Author

Pam Houston is the prize-winning author of Contents May Have Shifted, among other books. She is professor of English at the University of California–Davis and lives on a ranch at 9,000 feet in Colorado near the headwaters of the Rio Grande.

This title 'A Little More about Me' is also published as 'A Rough Guide to the Heart'; I have all of Pam Houston's works and this is exactly the same compilation of short stories as 'Rough Guide', neither one has any differential characteristics apart from the title!
Other than that, it's a very good read - if you like Pam Houston; if you're not familiar with the author than this could be a good place to start. An ideal travelling companion or a great distraction from waiting rooms if you have to hang around a lot!
Each of the stories will take you to a distinctly different landscape but the singular voice of this adventurous woman will engage you from start to finish.

"Cowboys are my weakness" is one of my favorites of all time...this book just doesn't show the same sparkle. I gave it 3 stars because Pam Houston not at her best is still better then many predictable novelists (the romance novels and thrillers that are a dime a dozen).

Some of the descriptions seemed dry and uninspired, but overall makes you wish you could be there. Of course there is a self-centered theme throughout. At first it was a little annoying, but she certinally does have a reason to share her life. Her adventures makes you think of things differently and the fact in modern society we really don't have much to justify complaining about. We may learn a thing or 2 from those in less developed countries about happiness and history.

Definitely an ecclectic mix of stories and people. Moments of brillance... Worth the read, but just don't expect it to be like her fiction.

A wonderfully descriptive writer, Pam takes you along on her journeys all over the world. You feel like your sitting along side her on an exciting road trip that you’ll remember forever!
