This reads more like a novel than one based on history. Although the author did an enormous amount of research this got drowned in the detail of peoples thoughts, their assumed motives, even involving the occult as well as their intimate sex scenes..At most I would say that it is a pleasant read.with a reference to an early historical period in English history.
