After a bit of a drought, this book was a real pleasure. I've enjoyed most of the books in this Brocade series although I have no idea what the link is. Each book is definitely stand alone.
++Minor Spoilers+++ Here our H is paid to seduce the innocent h for reasons of revenge. Eventually they marry when the h is a few months pregnant (this part I wasn't crazy about since the H didn't honour his promise to marry her but deceived her into sleeping with him and then goes off for 3 months). She then discovers that the H isn't the French aristocrat she assumed him to be when she first met him at the masquerade. It turns out that he is a labourer on a farm of a French Marquis in the Caribbean. It's an intricate plot, with a number of twists and turns (some more obvious than others). The author takes her time to let her main characters evolve and grow. The h is initially very spoilt and I did want to slap her a few times but she grows wonderfully. I loved the way the H learned to love. It's definitely a very romantic book and I loved the hea.
5.0 out of 5 starsClever, juicy, and fast paced from beginning to end.

I've read Jackie Ivie's other historical romances, and enjoyed them all, but this one is my favorite!! I love a mystery, especially when I'm reading along, enjoying the action and tension between the characters, when all of the sudden, BLAM! I'm blindsided by something I didn't even see coming. I don't like to give spoilers, and won't, but this is a fun, lusty read with people, places, and situations that aren't what or who they seem. Great reading for guys or gals, but definitely not lightweight on the steam meter (it's hot stuff)!
