Synopsis

Wiltshire, England

Lady Lily Jameson is thrilled to attend a house party given by the Daniel Farnsworth, the Duke of Lybrook, but not because he’s the most eligible bachelor in the peerage. Her only interest is his famous art collection, which reputedly includes a painting by her favorite artist, Jan Vermeer.

Daniel, duke only by virtue of the untimely deaths of his father and older brother, wants nothing to do with his new duties. He’d rather continue his rakish ways. When he finds the lovely Lily sneaking around the property in search of his art collection, sparks fly.

Despite her father’s wishes, Lily has no intention of marrying. She wants to travel the world to gain real life inspiration for her painting and writing. And what could be better worldly experience than a passionate affair with the notorious Duke of Lybrook?

But circumstances may change the game and the players…and danger lurks, as well.

Really enjoyable and fun book to read. Steamy, sexy, fun, well written and I can't wait to read Rose's story - plus the rest in this series.

My only comment :~ I felt the dialogue and characters were way too modern to be set in 1845. It obviously had an American 'voice' (eg phrases & words etc that would never have been used in Victorian England) I also think that the 'situations' the ladies in particular get up to are too modern as well. Also Lily would not act the way she does in this book.

If you like reading traditional Historical novels that are accurate in all things, this might not be the book for you. However, if you are willing to go on a fun, romantic and naughty romp through Victorian England - this is the book for you !

PS - Daniel was HOT

5.0 out of 5 stars A DELICIOUS HERO !!! And an extremely appealing heroine-- make a terrific book! 12 September 2014

Well, I have to say this book was a really nice surprise and elegantly written. I've never heard of or read anything by this author, and I bought the book on a whim. But I'm very glad I did.
I'm not going to go over the plot, as other reviews have done so.

I just want to say that this book was incredibly romantic, very sexy, and very enjoyable to read. Most notable is the fact that the author has created two extremely appealing lead characters. The hero is to die for-- what can I say-- he is probalby the hottest hero I've read in ages. Gorgeous, sexy, strong, intelligent, sensitive, a bit naughty, but really, really good to the heroine (in many ways, wink). I think it would be impossible for any woman NOT to fall madly in love with him (I know I did!).

More surprising is the heroine. So well drawn, so multi-faceted. Interesting, intelligent, funny, empathetic, good-hearted but still naughty, sexy, daring and beautiful (If I were a guy, I'd fall in love with her!). As a reader, you really want these two to be together and be happy, and you feel that they are worthy of each other. You feel them falling in love, and it's wonderful.
It makes a nice change from so many books I've read lately where the heroines are absolutely awful: either too stupid for words, or selfish, or silly, shallow, vapid, promiscuous, etc. Where I think "there is no way on earth the H would ever have fallen in love with that awful girl."

So Helen Hardt, kudos on your book. (there's only one small thing that slightly bothered me- there were a couple of medical things in the book that sounded very implausible-- perhaps author should have researched that a bit).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! 30 August 2016

I love regency romances! This is my first book by this author, and I really liked it. The premise was mildly intriguing - young girl meets young man, then meets him again 8 years later as duke. The heroine, Lady Lily Jameson, was very compelling - pretty, smart, and independent, a modern woman, although sometimes immature during the middle of the story. The hero, Lord Daniel Farnsworth, Duke of Lycroft, was also compelling - handsome, powerful, and charming. They had great chemistry. The storyline was fairly simple, the only conflict provided by Daniel's former lover, fairly trite. The author's writing style was very engaging. I really liked this book, and I'm looking forward to reading Rose & Cameron's story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lily and The Duke Daniel 17 January 2017

OMG!!!!! I love this author. Her books make you use your imagination as you read. Her description of her muses are so on point and they are the most beautiful man and woman. I loved the age difference between these characters. I love the lesson they both imparted unto each other one of loving each other greatly. The attraction was there between them even when she was a child but she did not know it. They never knew they would end up together but his mother remembered his words and set out to make the meet between them happen with a lavish party. And boy did they meet and conquered all their wants and needs and love. Goodness I wish some TV executive would pick up her books and see how exquisite they are and make a mini series. I would love to see live bodies portray her characters. Love love you Helen Hardt.๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

I saw this book on FB and decided to download the sample. Once I got to the end of the sample I knew I had to finish this book. I love anything written about this Era. The attraction and seduction Lily and Daniel have for each other is addicting! The passion is thick and fierce. I hardly purchase books since I have kindle unlimited but I am definitely purchasing the rest of this series. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic story 14 June 2015
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I had read the other reviews so I knew that this story was a great romantic one. I wasn't prepared for the hero to be so perfect and for the heroine to be such an accomplished artist with brains.
It's not common for books about this period in English history to be filled with erotic events and sex. The description were perfect and I could visualize myself there.
Great story, good solid writing and an Author to follow.
