About the Author
Sylvia Massara is a multi-genre author based in Sydney, Australia. She loves to dabble in wacky love affairs, drama, murder, sci-fi (or anything else that takes her fancy) over good coffee. Born in Argentina from Italian and Spanish descent (with a bit of Swiss thrown in) and transplanted to Australia at age 10, Sylvia describes herself as a bit of a "moggie" cat by way of mixed pedigree. She is also a citizen of the world as she has travelled widely throughout most of her life and she's the proud owner of three passports. From a creative perspective, Sylvia has been writing since her early teens and her work consists of novels, screenplays and freelance writing. She has also dabbled in acting on and off, songwriting and even had her own band during her teens/early 20s where she performed at various venues. As with most authors, Sylvia draws on her varied experience from the often puzzling tapestry of life. A few years ago Sylvia resigned from the human race because she discovered the animal kingdom was a much nicer place to be. Currently, Sylvia lives with her cat, Mia; and always vicariously through the many characters in her head. Occasionally, Sylvia ventures into the world of humans, and she cherishes genuine friendships as they are a rare find.

Enjoyed this modern day romance book. Easy read but liked the characters. Nice to see a storyline without everyone jumping into bed.

Very enjoyable

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It's a nice, light read with very likeable characters and plenty of humour.
Cat is a writer and is writing a blog about internet dating sites. Some of her dates are comical and others horrific. She even meets one person who could become Mr Right but in the background she is distracted by the gorgeous proprietor of Rick's Cafe who looks just like Hugh Jackman! She has a lovely supportive best friend in Scotty who's shoulder is always there for her to cry on. She needs Scotty's support too, as her reluctance to tell Rick why she is really meeting so many different men in his cafe, and her irish temper, which slows down the unravelling of misunderstandings, complicates her life!

Cute story

Am sorry that I felt like I could not give this story more than 3 stars. It was well written and a easy read. My problem with the book was Cat. She could lie to Rick about what she was doing with different men in his restaurant, which was stupid since it was a job. But would not let him give a explanation as to what he was doing with his ex-wife. I thought it was odd that she would not listen to him, but would sit down with the ex-wife and here all about it.
Her actions on that alone killed 2 stars for me.

entertaining, engaging characters and funny--I thoroughly enjoyed it

This is the second book that I have read that was written by Sylvia Massara. The first was "The Soul Bearers", a totally different type of book than "Like Casablanca", and I loved that book. "Like Casablanca" is very different-funny, engaging characters and totally entertaining! I had too laugh several times. I am a "happy endings" person and it satisfied my wish there too. This is a book many people would enjoy for sheer entertainment! I really like Sylvia's versatility and I am looking forward to her next book!

fun story if finding the 'One'

This book was a fun little story about Internet dating, and her experience written on her blog. The girl actually finds love not thru the Internet, but out experiencing life. Internet dating works for some, but not for all.
