Product Description

For fans of The Ghost Next Door, a new spine-tingling mystery-romance.

A woman is stranded along a lonely Virginia highway and is rescued by a handsome stranger. But is he leading her to safety, or into greater danger?

New York Times
 Bestselling Author GINNY BAIRD

The Light at the End of the Road

All Samantha Williams wants is to find her way home. Her father's critically ill and the family doesn't believe he'll make it through the weekend. But the fates and Mother Nature aren't cooperating. Icy rain has caused highway closings along Sam's precipitous mountain route, and she's forced to take treacherous back roads. When her car hits black ice and skids into a ditch, Sam fears for her survival. Then a stranger appears on the scene to offer her a hand. Only, after a while, Sam starts to fear this handsome mystery man is leading her in the wrong direction...

Jake Marlow normally doesn't travel this road at night. In fact, he barely gets back to the country. But a business emergency has him taking chances with the weather in his trustworthy SUV. At least, he believed it trustworthy until it blew two tires this evening. Seeking shelter in the storm, he comes across a beautiful woman in even more dire circumstances than his own. While he's sure he's never met her, there's something about Samantha Williams he feels he knows. Driven to protect her and get her to safety, Jake's prepared to make any sacrifice. Yet the mysterious light they're chasing eludes them time and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful and mysterious! 25 April 2016

This is the second book in the Romantic Ghost Stories series and I enjoyed it much more than the first book because of the realistic and well written storyline that finds Samantha and Jake stranded on a treacherous mountain road together. Samantha's car ends up in a ditch and Jake has to pull her to safety and then together they have to try to find a house and a phone to call for help. Lost in the fog, and pouring rain, their adventure becomes a fight for survival as they try to reach the mysterious light in the distance and the end of their nightmare. While reading their story I was immediately drawn to their emotional journey and the danger they faced from the weather and Samantha's injuries and I finished the book in one sitting. Great writing, taut suspense and the mystery of inconsistencies in the plot make Ginny Baird's ghost story a terrific read!
5.0 out of 5 stars I'm SUCH a sap. 15 July 2016

This story is a short, very fast, read. However, it doesn't lack for schmaltz. Yes, I said it. Schmaltz! And worth every bit of it. I gave up on romance novels years ago. That being said, I'm glad I took a chance on haunted romance.

This romantic ghost story is Samantha and Jake's story, who start out as strangers but due to circumstances beyond their control, find that they need to help each other get to where they need to be, and it is imperative that they both get there. You never know when or who will turn up as a ghost or a spirit. I really enjoyed this light, charming story. It is a stand alone book with the common elements being that they all take place in Virginia, and there is at least one ghost in each story. [I purchased this story with a gift card received from the author and because I loved The House at Homecoming Cove.]
4.0 out of 5 stars Give this a try - you won't be disappointed! 28 May 2015

Normally, I shy away from paranormal but there was something about the preview that made me want to read it. And, if I have to be honest, there was more of a "have I dreamt this before? or "this can't be real," kind of read. I liked how Samantha and Jake interacted with each other. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I have read most of Ginny Baird's books and I love the way she writes. However, I find this one very hard to review. It is so different from her others and is hard to describe without giving away the plot. I did enjoy reading it and the paranormal part was very integral to the plot. I would definitely recommend it to others. There are so many deep elements to the book, it is one I would read again. I loved all of the characters and they fit perfectly in the plot.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
