Product description

Product Description

Anna has two masters, one she hardly knows, but who makes her feel safe, the other she's known all her life and says he needs her.
Alex wants her to be free.
Devin demands her obedience.
As Anna takes her first steps into the world, into love, into friendship, she wonders if she will ever understand either of them.

There is a subculture within our own world that you’ve only heard whispers of. The conspiracy theorists wish they knew Anna’s story. What the conspiracy theorists think they know is only disinformation, put out there to keep them from the real story.

This is not a stand-alone novel. This is the second of five novels that tell Anna’s story.

This book is for grownups. This book is not for people who are easily offended, get nightmares easily, or have difficulty reading books about tough subjects. I do not glorify bad things, but bad things do happen to my poor characters. This is not your typical love story. My heroine does not fall in love and live happily ever after... at least not like the typical heroine. There is a happily ever after, but it is a long, painful journey to that end.
This book will likely offend you. This book might make you cry; it might make you throw up. It is a dark book. As my friend, Heidi, said, “It’s dark. It gets darker. It gets even darker, and then it gets even more darker. And then, just when you think it can’t get any darker, it does.”
But, don’t worry. I take you to the deep end gradually. ;)
There are many sexual situations in this series of books. People die. People get hurt. Things aren’t always truly the way they appear. The antagonist isn’t just a bad guy; he’s EVIL. My heroine’s worldview is skewed; things that may appall you are perfectly normal to her.
Any violence in this book is non-gratuitous and crucial to the plot and character development.
Do not read this if you are under the age of consent in your country. Do not get angry if the subject or actual book upsets you. If you're reading this, you've been warned.

Oh wow, I finished this book last week. I still can't quite put my thoughts in to words. Lingering visions and my overactive imagination are going crazy.
So yeah, the warning in this book states it's dark, and that it just gets even darker with each book. Well, I can now say this has to be the DARKEST I have read. I have read a lot of dark fiction. I'm not even that shock-able, and although book 1 was dark, and I knew there was no holds barred on this story. Every gritty detail was shown, nothing left to the imagination. But, it wasn't a patch on Entwined, book 2. One particular scene will be forever scarred in my brain, filed under 'oh my gawd, did I just read that correctly'. I won't even mention any more as that definitely has to be read with no prior knowledge before hand.

So, aside from the huge shock factor and intense and risky, boundary crossing darkness. This still remains the most incredibly addictive story. I just couldn't stop reading. I couldn't even guess what was coming, I was continuously thrown from one scene to the next, with my mouth constantly gaping open. Not pretty.

I have come to many conclusions in part 2. One being; there is absolutely no redeeming qualities in Devin Anderson. That man errr monster is one of a kind. I am one of those people who reads a book, and expects the monster will (most of the time) end up seeing the error in their ways, and all that. Not Devin, I'm not entirely sure he even works like most humans do. That man is deadly, and most definitely not one you want to cross. Some of the things he did, were beyond cruel and wrong. He has no limits. I actually started off thinking, he had the whole sexy, powerful, alpha thing going on.

Oh lordy – I was keen to find out more about what was happening with this story as I had several questions from book one that I wanted answered. The heartache continues with this story. Fair warning – there is rape, molestation, abuse and horrific scenes. If you are looking for a read to spice things up in the bedroom – you might only get tips of Anna’s anaconda blow job pointers because just about every scene in this book was horrifying to me.
What the author has a huge handle on though and conveys beautifully is manipulation. She is extremely well trained –even mechanical in her responses but put her in a social environment and she’s is very immature, but that’s purely from her lack of experience. She was ripped from her childhood and teen years into a very dark adult situation.
Anna is such a complex character. I have never read a book with so many mentally messed up characters. It’s sucked me right in and even though the content is distressing and disturbing to me, it’s hooked me into wanting to know what’s going to happen to these tormented and demented souls.
Everything you think you trust – might not be true – it will only rip your soul out.
I was kindly provided with a free copy of this book from the author to provide an honest review. Receiving this book for free did not influence my opinion nor review.

3.0 out of 5 stars There's a great plot here being overwhelmed by sex scenes 2 November 2014
By Mady Rivas - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Can dark erotica have too much sex? I guess the answer in this case is Yes. A great dark read balances advancing the plot with embracing the erotica. There were too many rape scenes that weren't particularly sexy or even dark. I think we got that Anna is toy to be passed around pretty early on. Endless scenes of this happening just got boring. It doesn't tell anything more about Anna - we know she accepts her life; it doesn't tell us anything more about Devin - this is what he's been plotting to do with her since birth. It did tell us that Alex is weak, but we see that from other aspects of the story. The book could have been shorter and tighter if half of those scenes were eliminated. I found myself skipping over many of these scenes without losing the thread of the story.

The background plot - an illuminati like cult is trying to take over the US government - didn't advance all that much. We did see a couple of politician succumb to Devin, but to what end remains unclear. There is more paranormal activity than the last book, but I feel somewhat confused that the Immortals in the US want to allow the Elders have more power as history says this is a bad thing for the Immortals. Thus, the motivation remains unclear. This is a long book - we should know more.

Anna had moments of growth - she has some powers - but then those moments got cast aside instead of developed. Alex seemed to descend into pussydom as he realized that Devin really was more powerful than he was (of course he was - he's an Elder and been at this game longer, as well as being comfortable in his unapologetic dark ruthlessness - why is Alex's dad not helping more?).

Despite this, I will read the next one. I like this dystopian, paranormal world. I am hoping that Anna and Alex find some power, either together or separately, to fight back against Devin. I am hoping that Anna spends less time being raped and more time living.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love this Book! 1 November 2014

Entwined is perfectly named second novel by the brilliant author Marissa Honeycutt. It is unique in premise and absolutely a must read for fans of dark erotica. Read the warning and believe it. If the warning makes you nervous this book is not for you. If you read the warning and think that sounds intriguing then go buy a copy now and start reading the best book I have read in years.

This is a wonderfully crafted, well thought out, and beautifully written book. Anna’s life is horrific, complicated and manipulated since before her birth. Devin desires power by using Anna, Alex has intruded into Devin’s plans and becomes her Master along with Devin. Life becomes complicated as Anna’s new Masters have different expectations and goals for her. Making things more complicated are her own desires and talents that she has yet to fully explore.

Anna is a lovely girl/woman. I say girl/woman because at 20 she is both worldly and naïve. Unlike most young women she is a sex slave, learning the world and dealing with constant abuse. She is charming, trusting and kind and the sort of person you would want as a friend.

Alex is a complicated man and may make the best hero ever-- if he proves himself worthy. Anna’s other Master Devin is evil and I’m glad I have never stood near him with a sharp object. He is a master manipulator and a character I love to hate. Devin may be one of the best bad guys ever.

I am a little in love with Greg.

Warning: there are several scenes in this book that will turn your stomach with the graphic terror cruelty or violence. This book is not for the faint of heart, but if you stick with the journey it will be completely worth it.

This is a not a standalone novel, but it is also huge novel at around 157,000 words. If you have not yet read Enslaved, Life of Anna then you will need to pick that book up first.

I was given a copy of this book to read, but not in exchange for a review. I have also pre-ordered a copy. I just really love this book and feel very lucky to read drafts of this book along the way. So congratulations on the publication of your second book. Your #1 fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit much 24 November 2014

when I started reading the series I was thinking there was only gonna be a total of 3...but 5? I don't know if I can stomach another 3. I do like the storyline, which is why I continued with the second installment. And I like dark. The author sends a warning that the other books are much darker than the first, which was pretty dark. At first I didn't think so, but after the first half, yes it is very VERY dark. it seems like anna gets raped and tortured on just about every page.

I know that anna has been trained to be submissive and weak minded. And during the first book I found it sweet the way she was so trusting and forgiving. Almost childlike. But this book I just wanted to smack her and tell her to wake up! I mean a boy beats her and rapes her in the limo, and then she is sad to leave him. grrrrr.

And Alex. useless in this book. I'll read the next one, but if she and Alex don't get a little bit empowered, I can't read anymore.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark and Disturbing 3 November 2014
By C. Rushing - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Part two of the series continues in the same graphic and disturbing style of book 1. Little by little, I feel like I'm starting to understand this whole misogynistic paranormal subculture of Elders and Immortals. Much still needs to be explained, but I feel like it's getting there.

Reading this story is like seeing a bad car accident. Part of you doesn't want to look because you know what you see will be disturbing and haunt you. The other part of you is morbidly fascinated and desperately wants to sneak a glimpse of the gruesome scene to satiate your curiosity. I definitely have issues with some of the content. Conflicted, is putting it mildly. However, I think it's safe to say that if this content doesn't disturb you on some level, you probably need to get your head checked.

As this story continues, I keep hoping that Alex is going to get it together and save the day. With each page turned, I give up hope that poor Anna will ever encounter a man that won't abuse her. At this point, I'm just happy when she is lucky enough to be raped by a man that isn't particularly violent. How sick is that?

Even the "nice" guys she's encountered have been more than happy to pass her around and take advantage of her. Having a "hero" that does next to nothing to intervene on her behalf is hard for me to adjust to. As a fan of possessive alphas, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around Alex's apparent impotence. I'm not sure if I'll be able to hang in there for four more books while he tries to get it together.

If you're looking for a dark, disturbing storyline with sadism, rape and sexual slavery, look no further. This book has all your bases covered. However, if your tastes are a bit tamer, heed the author's warning and steer clear of this book, because that is what you'll get!
