Product Description

Everything Anna cared about is lost; the only thing left is Devin. She gives him all of herself, but even that seems too little.
As Anna realizes the truth of her Master's desire, she must decide what it is that she truly wants.

There is a subculture within our own world that you’ve only heard whispers of. The conspiracy theorists wish they knew Anna’s story. What the conspiracy theorists think they know is only disinformation, put out there to keep them from the real story.

This is not a stand-alone novel. This is the fourth of five novels that tell Anna’s story.

This book is for grownups. This book is not for people who are easily offended, get nightmares easily, or have difficulty reading books about tough subjects. I do not glorify bad things, but bad things do happen to my poor characters. This is not your typical love story. My heroine does not fall in love and live happily ever after... at least not like the typical heroine. There is a happily ever after, but it is a long, painful journey to that end.
This book will likely offend you. This book might make you cry; it might make you throw up. It is a dark book. As my friend, Heidi, said, “It’s dark. It gets darker. It gets even darker, and then it gets even more darker. And then, just when you think it can’t get any darker, it does.”
But, don’t worry. I take you to the deep end gradually. ;)
There are many sexual situations in this series of books. People die. People get hurt. Things aren’t always truly the way they appear. The antagonist isn’t just a bad guy; he’s EVIL. My heroine’s worldview is skewed; things that may appall you are perfectly normal to her.
Any violence in this book is non-gratuitous and crucial to the plot and character development.
Do not read this if you are under the age of consent in your country. Do not get angry if the subject or actual book upsets you. If you're reading this, you've been warned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my... 15 February 2015

I knew going in there were going to be five books but AHH!!! That was mean! This one ends on more of a cliffhanger than the others (to be expected as book 4, but still... I feel like whining). In typical Ms. Honeycutt style, this just keeps getting darker. Devin is completely out of control but FINALLY, Anna fights back and IT IS GLORIOUS... until she pays for it. But now that she knows she can, I believe she will more and more. 5 super dark, super twisted, you'll need to watch fluffy bunny rainbow videos before sleeping after you read this, stars

When I started this series I was highly disappointed when I reached the end of book 3 and realized there was more to come but I only had about 2 weeks to wait for book 4. I noticed it on my kiindle last night and read through the night. And yes still went to work today. I just finished and just WOW! I'm not going to go into what the book is about if you are considering buying it you've already read books 1-3 so you already know. I just can't say enough about this book and series. Next to Abby Weeks she is one of the best authors out there if you like them dark. I usually don't read anything with a parAnormal theme but it's introduced slowly in the series and just works. Please head the warnings if you don't like them dark and I mean darker than you can even imagine DON'T READ IT. I don't know how Marrissa thinks this stuff up. I definitely wouldn't want her in charge of my torture. There were times I was literally trembling and had to walk away for a little while. You will definitely go through the gammet ofF emotions from an all consuming rage to utter disparity to devastating sadness. There is no joy in this one but I loved it. Can't wait for the final book.

I finished this book last night, so some of the initial shock has worn off. But I can't get the book or Anna out of my head. I read the first 4 books in 4 days. Now, I have to wait til April for #5. I don't know how I will do it.
The first 3 books, I gave 3 stars. I don't really know why. They are dark, dark dark. I don't want to like them, but I do. I hate Devin, with a passion. I hate him more than I have ever hated a man in any book I have ever read. I do not think there are any redeeming qualities, and I hope there is no plan to make him better. There is no way to redeem him.
What I love: Anna. She is amazing, so sweet, despite everything that has happen to her All along she has exhibited an inner strength that is amazing. Terrible things happen to her, but she always seems to bounce back and somehow forgives Devin. Well maybe not forgive, but she accepts her life. She lost Ben, then she looses Alex, then her friends start moving away and she really has no one left. Devin banished Wilhelm and Kurt in a truly terrifying exhibit of strength and brutality. She is just about broken and desperate in this book. I have never cried so much in a book. I felt like I was crying all the time while reading. Even tho her relationship with Peter was fake and approved by Devin, they came to an understanding and she actually is happy and enjoying their life together. Everything is going great and then he has to go back to Russia when his Grandfather dies. When that happens, he becomes an elder son and has responsibilities in Russia. Anna attends the funeral in Russia with Devin. While there, she sees Wilhelm and Kurt and Wilhelm confronts Devin in front of all the other Elders about not being able to see Anna. So Anna is allowed to spend some time with them in Germany and she is so happy. These brief moments of her happiness is so worth all the terrible things that Devin does to her. When she comes back from Germany, Devin makes her move in with him. His wife is gone, not really sure what happen to her.
The last part of the book is full of horrible things that he does to Anna. So many things and she has nowhere else to go and no hope for a different life. Devin tries briefly to be nice, but he can't help himself, he only knows how to abuse and torture her. Now, the immortal, Kavah also brutalizes her on a daily basis. She is still allowed to dance and that is the only time she is happy and feels alive. She is a shell of herself and all her friends are worried about her.
She still sees Alex in her dreams and he keeps saying he is coming back for her. But she doesn't understand how that can happen. She still misses him so much and I think that is what is most heartbreaking for me, her grief over Alex. It has been a little over 3 years and the sadness and grief have never gone away.
Throughout the book, you get little snippets of conversation between unknown people(some of them are her friends) that are concerned for her and trying to make a plan to rescue her. But you fear that it will never happen. In book 3 you learn that she can get pregnant. The pregnancy happens with Kavah' s help and is another way for Devin to abuse her. Her baby is created to give him more power.
When she goes to Russia, she meets other elder mistresses. They are curious by her and she is curious about them. They don't understand why she is so emotional because apparently half immortal/elder mistresses don't feel emotions or love. I don't really understand the elder mistresses myself. Anna doesn't feel like she fits in with them, mostly because Devin made her a sex slave and they are supposed to be respected and clearly Anna is not respected by any of the men in Devin' s brotherhood. They are supposed to be respected, but yet they are forced to have sex. I don't really understand that. I don't understand how they are born, who they are born to and how and where they are raised. I wonder what her life would have been like if her parents had not died. I am guessing that most immortals don't get married. I am hoping that these questions will be answered in book 5. With this secret brotherhood and their involvement and power in government. It makes me wonder if there are any normal relationships. So much sex and torture, the men have lost their minds and have no self control. And it seems like it just will get worse with the next generation. They have no one teaching them how to treat a woman. Devin's son, Tyler is as bad, if not maybe a little worse than Devin. He just doesn't even want to try to be nice to Anna. I do like Tommy, tho. He seems to really care about Anna.
Do the wives know about the brotherhood, the Manors and what the men do? Do they know about the sex slaves? Why is no one getting any diseases?
Read this book. The writing is very good and the characters are well developed. But you should only read this after reading the previous 3 books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! 16 February 2015

I have read all the books I wasn't given them for free I paid for them all so my review is definitely an honest consumers review! I'm not one whose into sci-fi dark immortal books but this book pulls you in and captures your heart.
I still can't help but wonder if Alex is really alive or not I'd like to assume he is but it's definitely dragging out. I want to see Anna become a strong half immortal that she has the ability to be. Devin's demise has to happen in book 5 and hopefully Alex will be brought back to his wife. When I read these books I cannot help but think of the songs "Pain" by Three Days Grace or Pantera's "This Love" they seem highly appropriate for the books soundtrack music.
As always great writing by Marissa I will be stalking her Facebook page for the release of #5 I hope it's at least a 1000 pages long as there's a lot to tie up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Anna and the Devil... 26 August 2015

Emotionally drained, my body is exhausted from tensing all my muscle's, I'm done now so I finally can let out my breath...In this book I can understand Anna more, it was hard for me to digest all the sex she had,she expressed herself/helped other's, charmed other's thru sex. The other Elder Mistress had no feelings of love or hate and Anna had the emotion's she wanted love, she couldn't turn off her feelings. What Anna goes thru is tragic, but she keeps going, she wants to please Devon so he will stay happy with her in turn he will be nice to Anna (not bloody likely)What a story this was!! there were times I wanted to give up, but I want that HEA, I worked hard to get there, I deserve it!!! (Oh and Anna does too:)) Here's to Book 5...
