Product Description

Anna has escaped from Devin. Now she must learn what it is to live without a Master. Yet Devin will not let her go so easily; his power depends on what he takes from her.

Will Anna's freedom last? Can she even learn to live as a free woman? Is Devin’s power too great for her to escape?

There is a subculture within our own world that you’ve only heard whispers of. The conspiracy theorists wish they knew Anna’s story. What the conspiracy theorists think they know is only disinformation, put out there to keep them from the real story.

This is not a stand-alone novel. This is the final of five novels that tell Anna’s story.

This book is for grownups. This book is not for people who are easily offended, get nightmares easily, or have difficulty reading books about tough subjects. I do not glorify bad things, but bad things do happen to my poor characters. This is not your typical love story. My heroine does not fall in love and live happily ever after... at least not like the typical heroine. There is a happily ever after, but it is a long, painful journey to that end.
This book will likely offend you. This book might make you cry; it might make you throw up. It is a dark book. As my friend, Heidi, said, “It’s dark. It gets darker. It gets even darker, and then it gets even more darker. And then, just when you think it can’t get any darker, it does.”
But, don’t worry. I take you to the deep end gradually. ;)
There are many sexual situations in this series of books. People die. People get hurt. Things aren’t always truly the way they appear. The antagonist isn’t just a bad guy; he’s EVIL. My heroine’s worldview is skewed; things that may appall you are perfectly normal to her.
Any violence in this book is non-gratuitous and crucial to the plot and character development.
Do not read this if you are under the age of consent in your country. Do not get angry if the subject or actual book upsets you. If you're reading this, you've been warned.

WOW! Last part of Anna's story. It's been such a wild, crazy journey it feels sad to reach the end.
I'm going to do this review in two parts. (Some bizarre new thing of mine)
First part is the short and sweet version, for those who aren't too keen on long reviews. Then I'll go in to more detail in the second part.

Short Version:

Incredible! This final part of Anna's story was always going to be bittersweet. I was dying to know how it all ended but also didn't want it to end. So I didn't want to rush it.
I needed to know that Devin would get what he was due, whether Alex would rise from the dead, and whether poor Anna would get her happy ever after. All these things and many, many more were resolved. Emerged is like a book full of explanations. Any confusion over the last couple of books, is fully explained in this final part. I actually felt the clearest I've ever felt, after reading a Life of Anna book.
The writing is, as it always is, completely addictive. I was dragged fully in to the story, and left unable to actually comprehend what is going on in the world around me.
I would say this final part, was perhaps not quite as dark as the other books in the series, but that's not a bad thing. I felt like this whole final book, was like a conclusion to so many mysteries and confusion.
Anyway, perfectly written and concluded. Highly recommended to fans of this series. I feel totally sad that it's come to an end, but I'm also excited to see what is coming next!!
5 Huge Stars!!

Longer Version.

Emerged is part 5 in The life of Anna, if you have rocked up to this book without reading the other 4 parts first, you will be utterly lost. Go back to the first one.

I loved this final chapter, in The Life of Anna.

Every time she visits him then

Wow talk about a page turner. I was hooked on this series from the first page of the first book. I have never read a book with such a strong warning, and it was required, there was a lot of very dark aspects to the series, but I just couldn't get enough. There were twists and turns all throughout, but it all tied in at the end. The only problem I have is its finished, I loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best series ever 23 April 2015

The conclusion is here and I am rather sad that we have to end this story. From book one I was addicted to this series. I don’t think there is a single aspect or emotion created in dark fiction that Marissa didn’t utilize in her series. Throughout the life of Anna, I continued to need more and now that it is over, I still want more.

We start this final book with Anna as a free woman, but soon things will change. As she takes each step to reclaim her freedom and life, outside forces are working at limiting her in what she can do. It was nice to see her fight back now, show her attitude that had been beaten out of her, but maybe this wasn’t the best time to put her foot down. She will continue her dancing and being with those who are protecting her but adjusting to life without Devin and Alex will be strange for her. She will meet a new man, Hugo, who would be a perfect man, IF she didn’t have obligations from the role she carries with Alex’s family.

This book wasn’t the normal dark and evil theme that we had come to expect, but I felt the emotional intensity was raised with this one. I have to be very careful in how I say this as to not spoil the story for you but there was one thing I had been hoping for in the last two books. While there were signs that the ending would be as I had hoped for and many times I even predicted this event would happen, with Marissa’s brilliance in creating this story, I was still shocked at the end. It was like you knew it was coming, you can almost see it there, but then when it does occur you are taken by surprise that it really happened. I am beyond amazement with the talent of this new author. She didn’t quietly make an entrance into the Indie world; she took us by storm with this series.

You will get an actual conclusion to this story; there are no loose ends that leave you hanging or lingering questions that will haunt you for the rest of your days. Many times I wondered how she was going to tie this all together and give us our closure and I found she did it perfectly. Anna will deal with anger, rage, jealousy, the truth and discover the lies she had been told. She will seek the revenge and she will taste victory in some cases. Anna started out as a young innocent child when we began this journey. She will end as a strong woman who has survived life’s worst, beyond worst and still stands to tell her story. I loved every single book in this collection and I can hardly wait to see what Marissa has in store for us in the future.

I thought about my review for this series.. I understand that the subject is not for everyone and is hard to swallow at times.. but that being said I couldn't put this series down.. it captivated me so much that my emotions are still all over the place.. I have had several emotions on this series.. I have laughed, cried several times, cussed, threw my tablet down, felt hatred, felt sick to my stomach, and at times felt Annas pain... This series puts you in it full force.. you will feel what each character is feeling as if it was happening to you.. this series is of great love, great loss, and great realization that most of this series minus the immortality could and does happen to people around the world.. thank you Marissa for being brave enough to write this story and giving the world an amazing read.. I loved this book in ways and hated it in others.. this series will stay with you forever. . I've read the series 2 times now and the second time I've gotten more out of it.. I've gotten emotional about each character and I felt I've invested in a great world of love, betrayal, pain , and revenge.. I will read this series over and over again.. to be fare on this series if you don't read Marissa warning at the beginning you will be shocked of what your about to read.. so prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey in the life of anna.. amazing..

I never review books and ive read hundreds of books and series. But i felt obligated to express how much i fell in love with anna and her story. And yes i say anna like shes real because this is how the series made me feel. It pulled me in from the beginning. The entire series was an experience and met my highest expectations on a dark, intense sexy romance. The author takes you on an emotional ride with anna thru here journey into a world of hurt, love, deceit, torture and you feel ever bit of what she is feeling. You want to cry for anna, kill for anna, pick anna up and run away with her! You just want her to be free from it all. And not only does annas character draw you in but most of the others do too. The emotional attachment they have with anna in the series is so strong you feel for them almost as much as anna. I highly highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a heart gripping, gut wrenching emotional roller coaster ride thur the lives of characters you will fall in love with and never forget!

4.0 out of 5 stars A couple of curve balls would have helped 17 April 2015

I was somewhat disappointed at how this tale ended. I loved the first 2 books in this series - it was a great combo of a very differentiated plot with great character development. However, by the 4th book, it become clear that this was going to be a character driven series, so the underlying plot was really never developed to its full potential.

In my mind this was a the missed opportunity for a five star read. We had the perfect villain in Devin, the hugely unapologetic bad guy; we had a sympathetic (if at times too pliable) heroine with a plot line that let her get thrown under the bus time and time again in a pretty credible fashion; and a string of heroes and lesser heroes to provide interest over 5 very full length installments. But the illuminati-like conspiracy never went any place remotely great (why did these Elders even exist in the first place?) and the paranormal immortals never had a clear role except as enablers to the elders. Character motivations got more and more muddled and confused as the series progressed, resulting in a really tepid 5th installment. Anna's full paranormal abilities were never fully explained, either.

Everything wrapped up very neatly, and dully. While I appreciated the toning down of the abuse scenes, what replaced it was hearts and flowers inner dialogue that felt out of character for some of the protagonists. What should have been a grand finale was a stand up speech and then, poof, everything is resolved. Not a single curveball in the whole book.

I would definitely read this author again. I hope she is more courageous with her next piece of work because she has some very original ideas.

Okay so after reading all 4 books I went looking for spoilers in this book through the reviews, unfortunately I couldn't find a single one.. so I guess I can tell you what happens... Okay so if you've read book 1-4 then your freaking dying to know what is happening here... well here it goes.... NOT!!!! Read the book, stop looking for a spoiler... things may or may not work out the way you want it.. all I can say is I give a standing ovation to Marissa for these amazing books.. although I'd like to see just one more of a spin off type of book, but all and all, I'm very pleased... amazing job...
