Product Description

Devin has achieved his goal of becoming Chairman and all seems peaceful...until Devin performs an act of cruelty that pushes Anna to fight back for the first time in her life. Meanwhile, Alex is working hard to give her something that Devin can never take away.

As her Masters work around her, Anna must navigate a life she never wanted

This book is for grownups. This book is not for people who are easily offended, get nightmares easily, or have difficulty reading books about tough subjects. I do not glorify bad things, but bad things do happen to my poor characters. This is not your typical love story. My heroine does not fall in love and live happily ever after... at least not like the typical heroine. There is a happily ever after, but it is a long, painful journey to that end.
This book will likely offend you. This book might make you cry; it might make you throw up. It is a dark book. As my friend, Heidi, said, “It’s dark. It gets darker. It gets even darker, and then it gets even more darker. And then, just when you think it can’t get any darker, it does.”
But, don’t worry. I take you to the deep end gradually. ;)
There are many sexual situations in this series of books. People die. People get hurt. Things aren’t always truly the way they appear. The antagonist isn’t just a bad guy; he’s EVIL. My heroine’s worldview is skewed; things that may appall you are perfectly normal to her.
Any violence in this book is non-gratuitous and crucial to the plot and character development.
Do not read this if you are under the age of consent in your country. Do not get angry if the subject or actual book upsets you. If you're reading this, you've been warned.

after finishing part 2 of Anna's story, I was badly in need of the next one in the series.

So, I always summarise in my reviews, and haven't in the last 2 reviews from this series, but I think it does help somewhat to know what to expect. So I'll give a spoiler free, and kind of hard to understand rambling summary of main events.

Entwined, Part 2 left with Alex feeling confident that he was getting somewhere with his research, in to how he can protect Anna from Devin, her malicious Master without it putting himself or Anna in a worse off position.

Embraced starts off straight after that, and Anna is happy. She is dating Ben, the lawyer from an apartment in her block. She can feel like a normal girl with Ben, and loves it. Her dancing is also going really well, and things seem perfect. Except that usually is a huge warning sign in Anna's life. Anna knows she can't get away with Ben not knowing about her other life, and that somewhere along the line, the 2 lives she lives will inevitably cross.
I already know that for everything good in these books, generally something pretty ugly and messed up will follow shortly afterwards. I read the book waiting for the signs, knowing that the twisted monster that is Devin will somehow be lurking around the corner, and yes, again he was there. Waiting to take control of Anna again, and remind her who and what she was.

Cue shocker number 1. No spoilers in this review, so I won't go on to explain what happens next. After the unspeakable events, we find Anna struggling to deal with pain. Not the physical kind this time, but the emotional. Which she has a harder time coping with. One thing to come out of Anna's grief is this shocking yet amazing fire that she seems to have found.

I want to yell at Marissa and tell her she can't end a book like that! It is a OMG are you freaking kidding me you are leaving me with an ending like this kind of book! I really need the next book in this 5 book series NOW! Okay there is nothing I can do but anxiously await the 4th edition of this LOA series.

I cried about Alex and I can't say why because I don't do spoilers I love Wilhelm and Kurt but, they aren't Alex. Devin is truly an evil man. Did I say that I can't believe the book ended the way it did?

4.0 out of 5 stars So Many Changes. Yet, Nothing's Changed. 29 December 2014
By C. Rushing - Published on

"The Life of Anna" is one of the most disturbing dark erotica series I've ever read. I love stories with a dark, disturbing edge to them, so this series is right up my alley. In many ways, this third book seemed lighter than earlier books. There is far more romance and "feel good" moments. The few dark scenes were really disturbing, but there weren't as many as in the first two books.

As the series progresses, I'm finding myself getting irritated with Anna though. Yes, she's been terribly victimized since her childhood and manipulated. However, I still struggle with the fickleness of her emotional attachments. I mean, how many different guys can she possibly fall in love with over the course of a few books? Every time I blink she seems to have a new love interest. It gets to a point where it just seems disingenuous and exhausting.

Also, how many times is she going to suffer horribly at Devin's cruel hands, only to turn around and forget about it? I know she's his slave, but does that mean she has to be such a dim-wit? You know the saying, "Fool me once...". Seriously, does anything this sicko does surprise her any more?

The light in Anna's grim life continues to be Alex. (Sigh.) God, what I wouldn't give to clone that man! As always, he is hard at work to save Anna from the miserable hand she's been dealt in life. He offers her a life she'd only ever imagined and it is great while it lasts. Although, I'm not at all convinced that it's over.

As usual, Devin is the epitome of evil. Look up villain in the dictionary and you'll see Devin. He is a vile, despicable beast. Ms. Honeycutt could not have dreamed up a more convincing monster. He is the quintessential bad guy and continues to shock me with his cruelty and lack of humanity.

Despite my growing frustrations with Anna, this series continues to be original and compelling. It is unlike anything I've ever read and continues to push my boundaries. Hats-off to Ms. Honeycutt for creating such a captivating story. Like a tragic accident in the making, I couldn't look away if I tried. I am enthralled.

5.0 out of 5 stars This will have you screaming... 8 January 2015

This book had me wanting to scream, half the time in frustration, the other half in defiance. I'm going to try to do this spoiler free... The first half of the book is relatively tame, at least, for Anna's life. Devin continues to be evil and Alex continues to try and save her, but then everything changes and Devin becomes darker than dark--truly it was almost too much for me and that's saying something. And then the end, God, Noooooo! Guess it's obvious I'm hooked. This continues to enthrall and is such an original plot, I can't help but be impressed. Can't wait for book 4 and am seriously hoping Anna starts fighting back soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 30 December 2014

Wow ~ Part 3 is amazing !!!

This series has grabbed a hold of me like no other book before, the story line is so emotional, contains twists that seem unreal but the more you read the more believable they are.

Alex is an amazing strong master and loves Anna his little treasure with all his heart and soul and starts to build a happy life with Anna, his family love and adore Anna, well most of them and welcome her into their hearts too ~ will this last ???

Devin is the Jackal & Hyde Master who seems to become more evil than ever before and shocked me to my core with the acts and lengths he will go to gain power.

This book was another 5* read in this fantastic series, a book with a calm, heart warming half and a part that is soul destroying and leaves you pinning for part 4.
5.0 out of 5 stars Not many make me cringe. 25 April 2015

I have to first say how badly infidel for Anna, and I have to give kudos to Marissa because she made my stomach drop and made me want to hurl.. I've never in all my years reading been disturbed by a book, there was a specific scene in here that gagged me, and I've read some hard stuff, and kudos for having the nerve to go there, I'd like to spend a day ruunning around in her head to k ow what goes on in her mind while writing these books... I hate Devin with a passion and am really beginning to hate Anna as well for being so freaking weak!!! But with the life she's been raised and trained for I guess that gives her an excuse, but still I'm waiting for that moment she realizes her powers and takes Devin out... onto book 4.. ugh I can't stop reading this series.. happy reading 😦
