mum's stop lying to each other

OMG do we lie as parents or what. Our children never have problems, we've never had issued being pregnant, being adults, being responsible caring parents who are permanently surrounded by sunlight and sparkles......NOT!!!! It's so refreshing to hear from a voice that admits this, hillarious but I did kind of worry about her being a mum to begin with. It's a fast steep growing up hill that needs to be conquered lol.

Read this ebook in 2 days, between driving my teenagers to and from their jobs and band and friends etc. Reminiced about the processes of pregnancy, babyhood, night feeds, toddlerdom, 2nd babies, needing money, and ultimately becoming happy as a mother. Laughed out loud many times in this realistic and encouraging book. Highly recommended to all mum's.

I read this and smiled through the entire story. I have read all of DO A books. Love her genres. All of them! Your stories are never disappointing,and now you wrote a Biography. Love the kiddie pics,love how I can relate. First babies,New house,second babies,and yes,becoming adults. Lol

Hilariously relatable, and enjoyable

After reading what this book was about; I was instantly interested in reading it. Me, being a mother myself, I was curious to see how much I could relate to this book. First off, this is based off the authors own experiences as a mother. It goes on to tell different things that everyone tells new moms and moms to be. And then, the author goes on to point out how those things ended up being lies in her experiences.

I can relate to this book so much. I thought it was funny, and entertaining and totally enjoyable. It is crazy what people will tell you before you have kids, and it all total crap for the most part. Become parenthood is hard. And no kid, or parenting experience is going to be the same. The author tells of her experience, and it is so relatable. The sleep deprived nights of the baby’s first few months, most mother has been there.

I would definitely recommend the book. It’s so hilariously accurate. And a true tale of parenthood, and kids. Parenting is hard, and stressful, and as you read in this book, it’s also the most rewarding.

I laughed way more than what I thought I would in this book - and I knew I was going to laugh a lot BEFORE I started. At times I probably sounded like a pack of hyenas.

A brilliant, brilliant book that may instill fear and/or panic into any pregnant first time mom and howls of laughter from mom's living the reality.

Brutally honest, this book reminds us of all the "lies" we were told pre-pregnancy and pregnancy and how afterwards, if we don't repeat them to others, the human race will die out!

Demi's thoughts/interjections take this book to an even better level - the dad's perspective.

This is a story about how one couple went from a "we" to an "us" on their parenthood path. You'll recognise elements of yourself as parent throughout - reminding oneself that parenting is pretty much the same journey no matter where in the world you live.

I was very happy to receive a copy of the book from #NetGalley in return to my honest review. I requested the book because I am currently interested in reading about other women's perspective on childcare.
In her book, Lies We Tell Mothers, the author tries to go over the lies new mothers hear, such as: "Pregnancy is such a special time," "Breast is best," "Your stretch marks will go eventually. Use cocoa butter!" She uses her own experience to refute the lies but not in scientific way but in a "Let me tell you how it actually is" way. The book is well-written and it was a pleasure to read it. Unfortunately, it only lasted 3 days. I might need to pick it up again sometimes. It is a fun and entertaining read. The comments from the author's husband made the book less like a read and more of a " conversation with the friends" situation.
I highly recommend Lies We Tell Mothers to new mothers, wanna be mothers, dads and anybody who is interested!
