Anxious to get the paint job started, Kaitlin schedules five dates in five days, but her plan falls to pieces when a sexy bartender at her venue-of-choice makes her swoon. Even though he observes each of the dates from afar, she can’t help but want him to come a little closer.

The last person she should fall for is a mysterious bartender with a sinful smile, but Paul makes her want to take risks again. Will the charming man with electric blue eyes break her heart or will he prove to her that a license to date is what makes life worth the drive?

Cute, funny, well written little insta love story. I really liked all the characters. I didnt realise there were 5 books before this one, and it made no difference other than making me want to read them as well. This worked fine as a stand alone, and I would definitely recommend it.

This series must be read in order. The first book is Love At First Date. The second book is Truth Or Date. The third book is My Last Blind Date. The fourth book is Save The Date. The fifth book is A Twist Of Date. This is the sixth book. I can't wait to read Driven To Date!

Kristen has had enough of men and dating! She has her new house to remodel instead. Besides it isn't like she has a stellar track record after all. Her fiance was cheating on her with her stepsister... And she found out at her bachelor party. What could be more embarrassing?! When her friends make a deal with her to paint the whole interior of her house she knows she has to do it. Five dates in five nights... No one said she had to be serious about it! Why is she so drawn to the handsome new bartender? Is she really ready to move on and start dating again? Should she take a chance? Or stick to her plan and the therapeutic remodeling?

***This fun *short* chiclit series is suitable for young adult through adult readers who enjoy *clean* romance and offbeat humor :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun & flirty 10 April 2015
By Living Life With Joy - Published on

Review originally posted on my blog

License to Date was a fun, flirty novel that had me laughing from page one. The novel begins with the aftermath of a cancelled wedding. Kaitlin’s ex-fiance was a lying, cheating slime-ball and was practically cheating on her from the get-go. Kaitlin is a successful young woman in her late twenties and she’s lucky she found out he was a cheater and that she was about to marry the wrong guy before making her way down the aisle. She’s just purchased a home on the Sacramento River and is dead-set on forgetting men and is focused on creating a beautiful oasis of a home.

In an effort to get Kaitlin back on the dating scene, her two best friends make a deal that if she goes on five dates, they will help her paint her entire house. The last thing Kaitlin wants to do is start dating again, but her best friends think she needs to get herself back out there and meet people, and she can’t say no to free labor. And the story begins.

While meeting up with her unwanted dates, Kaitlin meets a gorgeous bartender. Despite having the unfortunate luck of having the same name as her ex-fiancé, Paul seems like the perfect guy. Can anyone really be that wonderful or is there a catch? Sometimes people aren’t always what they seem and you can’t always judge people before you get to know them. Not only does she have her own dating dramas to worry about, her best friend Kristen is having some wedding woes of her own to keep her occupied.

One of my favorite lines in the novel said that love makes you willing to take risks because the ultimate payoff is so wonderful. It’s such a beautiful sentiment. Being happy in life shouldn’t be about things, it should be about spending time with the people that matter in your life. The need to be happy, content and secure is more important than a life of luxury and expensive things. The great legacy we leave behind is to find true love and happiness and hold onto it. The most important thing in the world is finding a true connection with someone and holding on to them for the rest of your life.

License to Date is the sixth book in the Better Date Than Never Series. After reading this fun story, I think I need to go back and read 1-5! This was an entertaining novel filled with sweet romance and relationships and it warmed my heart and charmed the whole way through. Paul might be one of my favorite fictional book crushes! 5 stars for this fun and flirty read. I’m excited that I found another new [to me] author to add to my go-to list.

My Rating: 5/5 Stars

An ARC was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Receiving novels free of charge in no way reflects on my honest opinion and no monetary compensation was provided for my review

5.0 out of 5 stars Swoony, clean, fun and one of my favs in the series 3 February 2017

Oh my I loved this one! Fun, cute, flirty, swoony and a great shorter chick-lit read! If you haven't read any of Susan Hatler's books I highly recommend that you pick one up. The Better Date than Never collection is a great place to start. They are all stand alone novels so you can pick and choose but the great thing is that all the characters are interconnected in the stories. In fact as I was reading this and all the friends and other ladies in the book kept popping up, I had to go back to the list of books and see which of these ladies gets their own book. I can't wait to read Mel, Kristen and Ginger's books!

Kaitlin is through with the whole dating scene. Done, no more, zip, zilch, nada!!!! No more men...EVER!!!! She's going to enjoy fixing up her new house, the one that the 80's threw up in, and enjoy her life. That is until her two best friends make her a deal, a deal that's too good to pass up. She agrees to go on 5 dates and they will paint the inside of her house-for FREE! See, too good to pass up!

Ok, this is going to be easy. Snag every single man she can find, all the ones that people keep saying they're going to set her up with. One date every night starting on Monday and bam, bam, bam she's done and her friends can spend the weekend painting with her. Win-Win!!!

Oh Kaitlin, Ohhhhhh Kaitlin. Boy oh boy. Girl you need to remember the saying, our best laid plans.... just saying honey!

From date one, there is something out to spoil her plans. Why can't each date just come, not say anything and be done within a few minutes? That would be perfect. I have to say I loved all the different dates and the crazy situations that they sometimes put her in.

But one of the major kinks in her life plan is that bartender. The one who keeps smiling at her, won't leave her alone so she can prep for her first date. Then comes in her friends to watch and make sure she doesn't fake her date. Not only are they causing her more problems but now the bartender has overheard their conversation and knows why she's really there. Throw in more deals from her friends and this simple easy week has just grown more complicated, but hey more free labor always makes life look brighter...right?

Kaitlin is so much fun! I really just loved her character. I loved her relationship with her friends. She's hurting from past relationships and yet she is trying to find peace and joy in her life in a way that she can. But I loved how this book was able to help her heal and find peace from some of those relationships.

Paul, well what can I say about Paul other than the fact that he's something else. Wow! Yeah for those of you who like book boyfriends I can already tell you that you might, nope scratch that, you definitely would find one in him. Ugh, I keep starting to type different moments with Paul from the book but I just can't. I can't! If I tell you then it takes the fun out of the surprises for you. Lots and lots of fabulous surprises await you in this read. Let's just say it again...Paul's GREAT!

Now it is a shorter book and these books always end with a HEA so if you don't like the insta love stories then this may not be the book for you but if I could convince you to take a chance on an insta love book/series it would definitely be this one! Oh yeah!!!!

It's one that I really could go back right now and read again! If I didn't have several other review books piling up and a busy schedule right now then I would so go back and reread it right away. That's how much I loved it! Now you may not have that instant love for it like I did but whether you do or not, I think you'd enjoy it to say the least.

Content: clean. A couple heated kisses but nothing more than a kiss. Susan Hatler's books usually have some swoony kissing in them but are fun clean reads!

Happy Reading!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a sweet wonderful read 16 February 2015

I love this story for so many reason it’s just a feel good all around love story that is going to stick with you for a long time. It’s one of those that you know what is coming before it comes but it still gives you a thrill when you read the ending. It warms your heart and makes you believe in romance and love.

There is nothing worse than to have the one you love cheat on you, but with your sister that is more than anyone can take. There is no wonder that Kaitlin has decide to swear off men. Here wonderful friends aren’t going to let this happen, they come up with a plan. They will help her redo her home if she goes on 5 dates she had got this, no problem. She picks up 5 men to date and she gets free labor. Only one thing gets in her way a sexy bartender named Paul, the kicker is her ex is also named Paul….Oh my can this get any better. I assure you it does…..

Paul has a secret when it comes out it could mean the end of them. Who could he be and what is this sexy blue eyed devil hiding. Paul isn’t about to let this little lady get away, from giving her his phone number to climbing down walls this little lady is going to fall for him.

The author brings back the wonderful characters of the pier books, you get to catch up a little with what is new in their lives. She gives you a heartwarming love story with lots of passion. This is a starting over again to finding the right person for you. It is just a feel good book that leaves you with a feeling of peace and a smile on your face. I really loved this story even though I knew what was coming I still loved it.

3.0 out of 5 stars interesting... until it ended so quickly 23 March 2014

The story started so well... A dare to date... Then meeting the right guy...etc. etc...then suddenly she is in love... And then he is in love... All in 5 days... Sure time is irrelevant when you're in love... But apparently all you need are a few meetings/dates, cute repartee, and sweet gestures... And then it's all happy ending... Right.
If she had added some more, this book could have been awesome.
