The only things I'd say to be careful of are the two pages where the lion roars with a big open mouth and my daughter (2 yrs) was a bit frightened by it. She's over it now. I'm sure older children wouldn't mind. There is a lovely hug at the end which makes it all better.
It may be considered a little long for a nighttime story but well worth it .
It's a great story, my 10yrs, 8yrs and 5yrs loves this book and we have read it loads of times since we bought it.
