For the Levi's Women's Plus-Size 414 Classic Straight Jean:
I can get these on - but every bump and lump on my thighs - visible.
And while they rest in the appropriate place on my tummy - they are dangerously low in the back. As in - even hiking them up - with a belt cinched up like Ellie Mae Clampett - you will be risking showing 'whale-tail' or whatever the cool kids are calling it. I wear big loose tops when I'm wearing jeans - my attempt to hide the butt - so that's not the issue - but I would never wear these because they are too thigh hugging / fabric too thin for said thigh hugging. The back is low enough to feel uncomfortable against the coccyx .
Full disclosure - I am pear shaped - closer to eggplant shaped. Lol. In my early teens - at my smallest - my waist was 24 inches and my hips were over 40 inches. And this was LONG before big butts were 'fashionable' - but I digress.
I struggle to find jeans that will fit my thighs and my waist. I'm posting this review because - in the past - I've posted reviews where I share struggles finding a specific item - and other Amazonians with a comparable struggle will post a comment - ahem - a helpful comment about an item they found that worked for them. I am looking for 'old-school' jeans - true denim - thick - with no stretchy fibers added - no shaping - no skinny legs or tapering - straight / boot cut. I cannot believe that I might have to go to bespoke / specialty company true, unadulterated denim.
For me, they are true to size, I started out up a size based on reviews, but that was a mistake. I got a second pair true to size, and they have plenty of room, but they do want a belt. I am keeping the big ones to use when layering long undies for super cold activities, even though I know jeans are NOT good cold weather gear.
The fabric has just enough stretch in it that they move with you when sitting or bending, another brand I tried had zero stretch and hurt to bend over. Length is good, tending on the long side, and they survived.washer and dryer with no noticeable shrinkage. Even if they had, because they were a smidge long, it would be fine. The too big size were easily too long, too. Boots or something with a low heel would be required, and I am borderline tall inseam.
So if you want "not jeggings" but flattering and comfy, this is it! Think I will order one more color right now.
