This book is part of the PWF series. Darcie is a middle aged mother trying to cope after divorce. She starts suffering from hot flushes in a big way, and this leads to some hilarious times whilst she tries to find out what is actually happening to her, plus what has happened to past women in her family. This is a fun read.
Let It All Burn is the start of what I hope will be a long series. This first installment sets up all the history and backstory of Darcie and her family. We get to learn that she is an amazing mother of three kids and family means the world to her. She’s in her early forty’s and is in perimenopause with the most wicked of hot flashes.
Most of this book is the lead up to what happens at the end, and gives us an insight of what we might expect in the following books. I really liked Darcie, she was someone that we of this age bracket could relate too. I felt she had a little chip on her shoulder and was very wary of men in general, but who can blame her with that Ex husband. Her kids are something she does take pride in and that’s mainly her doing. Another element to the household is Nana Stella, she is a hoot! Life is meant to be lived with that woman. There are other secondary characters, best friend and cousin as well as a very intriguing agent. Hope to read more of him in the next book.
DGS takes time in her novels to bring about not only a storyline that will keep us interested but the history to back up her clever mythical ideas. This book is not heavy or dark with the fantasy and if you like Greek mythology, you’ll get a kick out of this. If you love any of DGS characters, you will see that same flow happening in this book too. This is well worth the read.
Okay so WOW just doesn’t seem strong enough to fully express how truly amazing this story is... I never have expectations when it comes to a book by Denise Grover Swank because she has never written anything I didn’t absolutely love and this book was no different, okay well yes it was it was so much more than I could have ever dreamed of I mean the heroine Darcie omg she is amazing and I seriously can;t wait for more from her and her family this story just has so much potential and I know it’s all part of a co-authored world and seriously if this is just one book in that world I am so excited for all the other stories... I’m not doing spoilers even though I really want to gush about everything that’s how much this story captured my imagination and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better omg it truly did and the ending wow the descriptive writing omg so seriously you just have to read it for yourself.
If you love a bit of magic, a dash of supernatural, an air of mystery and a cast of amazing characters this book is an absolute must read.
Oh my gosh!!!! Firstly this is a MUST READ!!!!! A woman who has a hot flush then a fire starts, weird but also awesome. I was hesitant At the start being it be about a single mother in her 40s with 3 kids, recently divorced. I assumed I wasn't going to connect with Darcie and her hot flushes, as I'm only in my 20s. But yet again I was wrong. I felt a connection, and my heart was with her through what she had to go through being a single mum and the challenges she faces with the changes that were happening, which aren't normal. This book makes you want to keep reading and not put it down. So many things happen. And I did not expect what did happen. Excellent work again by Denise Grover Swank, she truly is an amazing writer.
This was a fun book with a feisty leading lady. We totally need more books with women in older age groups. They are wise, and kick-ass. The only reason it didn't get a five was my personal taste. I'm not so much into gods and goddesses. But in saying that, I'm looking forward to more books in the series, so I might be converted yet!
This book was addictive! Darcie was so relatable it was hard not to get lost in her story. Especially when you know how strong her feelings are for her children. When you think a of middle ages women you think of boring life with children, nothing exciting to happen. But that isn't the case with Darcie and her hot flushes! In her attempt to understand why it is happening bring up family drama and a new perspective on her current relationship with her family. Just when you think you have the answers there is a whole lot more turns just over the page! You have to read this it's amazing and shows that no matter our age you can still be drop dead gorgeous, even if you have to stuff yourself into spanx. Thank you Denise!
This is a new book by Denise and I loved it.. It’s about a 42 year old mother who is divorced and is starting to experience hot flushes, these aren’t any ordinary hot flushes either and they love to burn.. If you are after a clean and fun read this one is for you..
As always, DGS has written a book I can’t put down. The change in character demographic was great and I enjoyed the characters as much as any other book I’ve read of hers. Looking forward to the next installment.
