Having not had much success with Zeldagames in the past, despite my best efforts, I was sceptical when I ordered this, but thought all of the amazing reviews can't be wrong, and maybe I'm the problem, not the franchise.
I'm glad I took the chance, because it really is a great piece of work. The area is huge and varied, and every corner yields a new discovery. I still continue to be taken aback, even after having sunk over 70 hours into it.
It's a completionists nightmare or dream dependent on your viewpoint. There is just so much to do and you can sometime feel overwhelmed with the sidequests and exploration. But the game is what you make of it, dipping your toe into it as much as your time allows.
Finally, you don't need to have an intimate grasp of the Zelda lore to enjoy or understand the game. I have only a nodding acquaintance to the franchise and I don't think I'm missing out. It's an RPG which stands on its own to feet. Would recommend for any library.
Having played a few of the well known Zeldagames recently (like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask), I was not sure how this game would stand amongst the classics. There are a lot of open world RPG games too these days, making me sceptical on how this will turn out.
After sinking some good long hours into it, I can say that I am a big fan. Everything from the gameplay, graphics and story are all refined, in ways like the classic Zeldagames were. Nintendo have done such a good job, and it is genuinely fun. It is simple to pick up, but has layers and layers of complexity that is revealed by playing through puzzles or experimenting yourself.
Also, this game is quite long. You won't get bored or have to put it down anytime soon.
I've been playing this game pretty solidly for the past month and still discovering new things. The storyline is great, gameplay is fun -- everything you expect from a Zeldagame but so much more. Worth buying a switch just for this game.
Arrived very quickly in brand new plastic packaging. The game itself is absolutely amazing - I don't usually play first person open world games like this because they can be frustratingly unguided for someone like me who prefers a slightly more linear and directed gameplay with clear objectives. BOTW manages to keep all the pleasures of open world experience and self exploration without making it too overwhelming - even if the side quests become too much, the larger story objective is still itself written as an open world experience that you can practically fully control with the gentlest nudging from NPCs. I've never played a Zeldagame before, but I can fully recommend this to anyone. There is always something to do no matter your skill level, so prepare to spend copious hours unable to put the console down.
The beloved Zelda saga continues - this game is simply unbelievable, and unbeatable value for this family of Zelda tragics. The kids are pretty much grown up now, and it's brilliant to have my 20-somethings back around a Nintendo console. The Switch is also brilliant, and we've had occasion to use it in every one of its different form factors. 10/10!
This is the first Zeldagame I've played and it's definitely living up to the hype so far. It features an expansive open world environment full of puzzles, hidden items and enemies springing out of nowhere. I can't wait to get lost in this game on my next >24hr long haul flight.
The best Legend of Zeldagame, actually I would say, the best game I have ever played in my life. Worth all the hype and praise it's been getting. 200 hours plus worth of gameplay, amazing replayability and a dlc that is well worth it adding EVEN MORE content. This game could last forever if you want it to.
