About the Author

Mickey Spillane (1918-2006) sold hundreds of millions of copies of his crime novels. He began his career as a comics writer in the 1940s, penning stories for characters such as Captain Marvel, Batman, Superman and Captain America. After serving in World War II, Spillane wrote his first novel, I, the Jury, which spawned the Mike Hammer detective series that continues to this day. In 1995 he was named a Mystery Writers of America Grand Master.
Max Allan Collins, a multiple Mystery Writers of America "Edgar" nominee, has been hailed as "the Renaissance man of mystery fiction." He has earned an unprecedented nineteen Private Eye Writers of America "Shamus" nominations for his historical thrillers, winning twice for his Nathan Heller novels. In 2006 he was honored with the Private Eye Writers of America's "Eye" Award for lifetime achievement.
