Product Description

FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE YEAR OF LIVING DANISHLY - How to make big decisions, be more resilient, and change your life for good. Having spent the last few years in Denmark uncovering the secrets of the happiest country in the world, Helen Russell knows it's time to move back to the UK. She thinks. Maybe. Or maybe that's a terrible idea?

Like many of us, she suffers from chronic indecision and a fear of change. So she decides to give herself a year for an experiment: to overhaul every area of her life, learn how to embrace change, and become a lean, mean decision-making machine. From how to cope with changing work lives and evolving relationships, to how we feel about our bodies, money and well-being, Helen investigates the benefits of new beginnings, the secrets of decisive people and what makes changes last - and uncovers the practical life lessons we can all use thrive when change is afoot - and inject some freshness and magic if it's not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take the "Leap" - it's lovely. 17 December 2016
By Nichole Peterson - Published on
I'm a huge fan of Helen's witty and informative writing style from her first book, "The Year of Living Danishly". LEAP YEAR reminds me what I love about her storytelling. You learn valuable information from her research and new perspectives via her characters and interview subjects, but it's delivered in a relatable way. In this new book, she delves deeper into practical real-life questions of what we really want out of our lives, and how to handle decisions big and small. If change scares you, if you have big decisions on your mind, or if you feel "stuck" in any part of your life, this is a thoroughly enjoyable way to get the courage you need to move forward.
5.0 out of 5 stars A must if you liked "A Year of Living Danishly" and for those who haven't read it. 12 May 2017

If you like "A Year of Living Danishly" then you need to pick up "Leap Year." Helen Russell's journalistic skills and just plain good humor will keep you turning the pages. So many helpful tips and insights on our complex world. I read a library copy, but wonder why Amazon isn't carrying the paperback edition and only third party vendors are. I notice you cannot purchase it at B & N either... so the U.S. market is having a hard time getting a copy. Perfect book for helping those with decisions that hold them back from taking the next step in their journey. I cannot wait for Helen's next adventure into the complicated reality of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars living the Leap Year way 20 May 2017
By Arctictony - Published on
I found Leap Year to be a fantastic read in two ways: first it's hilarious. The characters in the book are vivid and achingly familiar. My wife and I read this book at the same time and were constantly telling each other how much Russell's stories of the challenges of family and friends reminded us of our own friends.

Secondly, it just makes your life better. Leap Year is packed full of advice gleaned from scientists and experts but it's written in a way that never feels preachy. I used the lessons from Leap Year in my work, with my friends and even in my relationship (helped that the wife read it too!). I'd highly recommend this to someone who wants to make their life better but wants to laugh along the way.
