A great sequel in the Tales of the Werewolves Tribes series and one I couldn't wait to read. It begins with an assasionation attemp of Ganz's life and the alert rhythm continues throughout the story. Ganz's need to change the rules is obvious and well thought, but bringing change on a population as old as the werewolves is not easy nor is it welcomed, so it paints a huge target on his forehead. His attraction to Christian, the Dacian pack Beta doesn't come at a great time, especially since Christian is reluctant to give into it, and it's a distraction neither of them needs.
I loved Christian. He is stubborn and all knowing and just as cocky as I would have expected a Romanian werwewolf to be and the dialog between Ganz and him is very engaging.
The world Alina created is rich, the politics that govern it intricate, playing a lot on real life politics in the Balkan area. The characters are well rounded. The interactions between them are believable.
This isn't as angst filled as I come to expect from Alina, which comes as an interesting surprise.
