First off, this is a book about a 22yr old to be nun. Even knowing that, I wasn't expecting the amount of preaching and praying that occurs. This book could have been a third the length and still retained the story if only the lengthy descriptions of prayer were removed.
Finished, but I found myself skipping pages, not just paragraphs, all too often

Excellent Western RomanceReviewed in the United States on 5 June 2016
I'm not a fan of westerns, but this book is an exceptional one. Ms. Bittner's characters are very sympathetic & you root for them until the last word. Even the ex-girlfriend of the hero has redeeming qualities. I read this years ago & it's in my keeper collection.

Another WinnerReviewed in the United States on 25 January 2019
Once again, Roseanne Bittner has NOT disappointed. Love everything about this book. I've read over 40 of this author's books and haven't had any disappointments. She makes you feel like you know the characters personally. All her books also give you history of the American West.

Gold greed men and women. The story of the world from the beginning.Reviewed in the United States on 1 May 2019
Another side of men one wrong but deep down good of soul and heart. Then woman versus woman.one full of faith another full of self. A twisted path that converged causing which pain and anguish for all. A good story but could have left out some of bedroom details. Bonita B
ANOTHER EXCELLENT BITTNER BOOKReviewed in the United States on 20 December 2005
I HAVE READ RB BOOKS FOR YEARS AND TRULY LOVE MOST OF THEM. THIS BOOK WAS WRITTEN IN 1985...NOT A SEASONED WRITER..BUT HER TALENT WAS OBVIOUS. THE PLOT WAS UNIQUE. THE CHARACTERS VERY DIFFERENT BUT VERY INTRIGUING. IT WAS A 'CAN'T PUT IT DOWN'.....OUR HEROINE IS RAISED IN AN ORPHANGE, HEADSING WEST TO TEACH IN A MISSION SCH BEFORE BECOMING A NUN. THIS SHY, NAIVE, SCARED OF HER OWN SHADOW HAS NOTHING BUT AN MOUNTAIN OF FAITH. ON HER JOURNEY, MOSS TUCKERS ..THE BIG BAD COWBOY WITH AN UGLY PAST..BECOMES VERY PROTECTIVE OF HER AND PROMISES TO SEE HER SAFELY WEST. WELL, THERE ARE BAD GUYS, BAD WOMEN, INDIANS, KIDNAPPYING, TEARS, LAUGHTER AND 'TRUE GRIT' BY OUR JOHN WAYNE HERO CHARACTERS. IT'S A REAL WESTERN AND I LOVED IT AND WOUND UP LOVING ALL THE BIG BAD GUYS WHO CRIED OVER MANDY'S RESCUE AND THE LOVE SHE AND MOSS SHARED. NOT MUCH SEX..NOT MUCH BAD LANGUAGE. SOME VIOLENCE, INCL RAPE (APPROPRIATE TO THE STORY CONTENT)...AND HOW MANDY CONQUERS THE BAD THING SHE ENCOUNTERS THRU HER UNSHAKEABLE FAITH. (ALTHOUTH THIS WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A RELIGIOUS BOOK IN AND OF ITSELF.) EVERYTHING IS JUST IN THE RIGHT PROPORTION TO MAKE THIS A KEEPER. I DIDN'T PUT IT AWAY SINCE MY SECOND READ WILL BE SOON. ENJOY. IT'S WORTH FINDING. WOULD HAVE LIKED TO GIVE IT A 6******.
