this was an excellent book. it is a stand alone novel

this was an excellent book. it is a stand alone novel, although it sort of follows on the Mayor of Lexington Avenue, and you don't need to have read this one first, or indeed at all. The Mayor of Lexington Avenue I thought an okay book, a bit slow at times, whereas this book is far superior: story line was griping, characters you cared about and an all round good read

Tobin's tear

#2 and just as good....Mr S has an easy way of writing and letting you shed a tear just like book #1 his style lets you get emotionally involved with the characters past and present. A plausible story line as the acknowledgements read later. Looking forward to #3 and #4.....but realise there's no # 5 as yet....get writing Mr S....your readers await 😀

New writer for me, and despite the well worked legal scene (by so many authors), it is a good read and entertained me for two evenings before I went to sleep.Well developed theme and xcellent characters. I look forward to he next Sheehan offering.

Second novel, and a follow up to "The Mayor of Lexington Avenue"
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 January 2014Verified Purchase
I bought James Sheehan's first three novels at the same time, having not read anything by him. This is his second novel and features Jack Tobin as his main character as he did in "The Mayor of Lexington Avenue". Fortunately I read them out of sequence, reading this one third. If I had read it second, then I would not have continued with the series, and read Sheehan's excellent third book "The Lawyer's Lawyer. Reading this one was hard work, a dull book.

Two of a kind

This book was in many ways very similar to The Mayor of Lexington Avenue but I enjoyed that book as well and the author's style. I hope the next book is different and does not follow the same route.
