Product Description

When a professional relationship turns personal, it’s impossible to resist the law of attraction.

Alec Rowland is a high-flying lawyer in a London firm whose career is his life. He doesn’t have time for relationships and his sexuality is a closely guarded secret. After picking up a cute guy on a Friday night, Alec’s world is rocked to its foundations when his one night stand shows up in the office on Monday morning—as the new temp on his team.

Ed Piper is desperate to prove himself in his new job. The last thing he needs is to be distracted by a crush on his boss. It’s hard to ignore the attraction he feels, even though Alec’s a difficult bastard to work for.

Both men strive to maintain a professional relationship, but tempers fray, passions ignite, and soon they’re both falling hard and fast. If they’re ever going to find a way to be together, Alec needs to be honest about who he really is because Ed won’t go back in the closet for anyone.

Jay Northcote where have you been hiding, the law of attraction was such an enjoyable read, sweet, sexy and hot.
The law of attraction gives us two hot lawyers who meet as a one night stand and come face to face Monday morning at the office.
There attraction is sweet but sexy, subtle but frustrating, seriously wanted to know Alex out at times for being an ass.
Alex and Ed made for a great read, would love to have read more. Will go In search for more of Jays work

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story, wonderful characters 29 March 2016

4.5 Stars

I loved the premise for The Law of Attraction – two men, one hot hook-up, no strings and then when you think it’s over and have walked away, the other guy ends up being your boss. So, yes I went into this book already thinking I’d enjoy the story line, plus it’s a Jay Northcote book so that always a good sign, but this story really was so much more!

I have to admit that despite his hotness I wasn’t Alec’s biggest fan at first. He doesn’t really seem to treat people all that well in general and his treatment of Ed really got to me. BUT, the more we get to know him and understand why he is the way he is, I totally fell for him. He’s difficult and a bit mean sometimes, but the more I got to see him open up with Ed, I got to see how truly special he is.

Ed is such a wonderful character, I absolutely loved him immediately. He is such a genuinely good guy! Despite the initially odd situation with Alec he doesn’t let it stop him and works hard to earn his spot. He’s a strong man who certainly challenges Alec, but also doesn’t back down and won’t settle for less that what he really deserves.

The relationship that builds between Alec and Ed definitely isn’t an easy one, but it truly is beautiful. Alec has lived deep and alone in his closet for years, but meeting Ed and seeing his light is exactly what Alec really needs in his life.

I really loved this story, from start to end! There was a very realistic flow to this story and the characters. They had such great chemistry together, yes hot and sexy but they also just fit together. I loved these two together and their story made my heart happy! (And there’s an epic spider story in here too – and personally, I’m with Ed!)

The Law of Attraction is another great book from Jay Northcote and I truly look forward to reading more from her!
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful love story of two Lawyers in need ! 4 May 2017

Alec and Ed, professionals, Lawyers, who are keeping a secret. In the closet, Alec, 32, needed a hookup, because their big project was about to begin at work. Ed, 23, was also ready for a hook up. He was staring a new job Monday and he always hoped for a real connection. Alec and Ed met and they were both onboard, and wow, did the electricity spark and sizzle. The two were perfect for one another's sexual needs. Come Monday, Ed is the new addition to Alec's new project.
They worked hard, but it was difficult to stay away from one another. Ed is the first man Alec has had such strong feelings for. He begins to reassess his "closet" status. This is a wonderful story set in England. A story of true love giving someone the realization of being true to ones self.
Alec wanted to be out so he told his brother and folks, but his parents took it badly. When he got to Ed's family home, they welcomed him with opened arms, and he loved the feeling.
I especially loved the description of the manly features of his face in the streetlights. The male/male attraction well defined.
We see our men come full circle and admit their desires and love. I think these guys are great.
This is heartwarming, funny, sexy, and marvelous.
Highly recommended. ENJOY !

5.0 out of 5 stars Tightly Written With Logical Angst Resolution 15 February 2016

Deeply closeted 32-year-old super lawyer Alec has a real problem: Ed, the adorable younger man he hooked up with on Friday walks into his office on Monday as the new junior member of his team. Not only is this a shock to both of them but it's deeper than that because Alec asked Ed to stay the night, which he never has done, and Ed is not one to hide his sexual preferences.

The back and forth between these two, in and out of the office, may seem to take on a bit of surrealism when you are reading it, but then something clicks into place and you find it all quite credible. Alec has simply fallen head over heels but does not know it because he never has done so, and Ed refuses to be Alec's dirty little secret if they want to get involved because he has fallen in love.

There are a few fine lines here which Jay Northcote crosses with great aplomb and the manner in which she brings about a resolution to the affair is sweet, gentle, and most of all hopeful. This is a lovely, sometimes bumpy, and occasionally very steamy, book and deserves attention.

This was my second read by Ms. Northcote. My fellow reviewers at Gay Book Reviews loved it so I knew I had to grab it! I wasn't captivated by the first story of Ms. Northcote's I read, but I was happy to give her work another shot. So very glad I did! The Law of Attraction was a classic trope of forbidden love done right. After a one night stand, Alec and Ed find themselves in a very compromising position when Ed comes to work at the law firm where Alec is trying to make partner. Even worse? Ed has to report to Alec. Let the hijinx ensue! Tight writing, great story, fabulous take on a classic romance trope. I enjoyed every single minute of it and learned cool little British phrases along the way. I'd definitely recommend this to others, a 4.5 star read rounded up to 5 stars.

ay Northcote is outstanding and, her characters Alec and Ed were magical together with or without the Harry Potter duvet.

Alec had the world. He has the job he has always wanted, is on track to make partner at the firm, he is young and attractive, and is financially well off. Alec should be feeling on top on of the world. In reality, Alec is deeply closeted and it is a very dark, lonely and miserable place. All that changes when Ed comes into his life.

Feeling lonely and horny, Alec heads to gay bar and spots Ed. Ed pushes all of Alec's buttons physically and, he takes him home. Alec is more than a little disconcerted when he also feels a tiny spark of something - something more than just physical. Alec doesn't have the courage explore that spark. He allowed Ed to spend the night and, Alec has never done that before. Driven by fear, he hastily ushers Ed out the door the next morning.

Fate can be a fickle bitch. Alec and Ed are both shocked to their cores come Monday morning. The new temp hired by Alec's firm is none other than Ed. Watching these two navigate this mine field is a spectacular read. The physical pull between them only gets stronger (hotter) and the emotional connection deepens. (Loved the trip to Scotland and the killer spider.)

Alec realizes that in order to have Ed in his life he has to come out of his closet. He is 32 and finding that courage will not be easy. Longing to be with Ed and more importantly being able to finally be proud of himself will help him find the way.

Ed's family was everything a family should be - warm, caring and loving. In contrast, Alec's parents were cold and distant. I could not understand his mother's reaction when she finds out what her husband did to Alec when he was a teenager. I could never love, trust or respect my husband again if he did something so vile and violent. She should have hugged her son and headed straight for a divorce lawyer.

I love Northcote's writing style. Her books flow easily and her characters are easy to relate to and care about. I wanted grab a shovel and help Ed dig Alec out of his closet.
