I loved absolutely everything about this book. I would give it more stars if I could ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It's going straight onto my Favourites of 2017 Shelf.
I don't remember the last time I smiled so much while reading a story and I laughed so loudly at school pick up (I couldn't put the book down) that all the mums were giving me funny looks. Whatever - if only they were reading the awesomeness that was Cade and Rebecca ❤️🔥❤️
This book honestly has it all.
Cade is seriously hot and swoony ✅
Rebecca is smart and feisty ✅
Her best friend Chas might just be my favourite best friend character ever ✅
Witty Dialogue ✅
Sex scenes that will make your kindle melt ✅
The right amount of sweet to have you smiling and doing little happy sighs ✅
Add to this worms and Star Trek and you've got the recipe for the year's best romantic comedy. I will be telling everyone I know to read this book ASAP.

"The Last Guy" is funny & sexy - the characters jump off the pages - I want to know them!! This is my favourite genre - Romantic Comedy and this book has plenty of comic relief.
The story takes us behind the scenes of the newsroom where sports anchor and retired NFL star Cade Hill meets his match in his feisty colleague, reporter Rebecca “Stone” Fieldstone. They are quite a pair – funny, dirty just dynamite together.
Rebecca has worked hard to get what she wants most in the world - a spot at the evening anchors desk. Cade is an ex-superstar Quarterback that just waltzed into the nightly sports anchor position, (or so she thought). For some reason the two of them are instantly attracted to one another. Rebecca does everything to fight this attraction, but Cade will do anything he can to get what he wants.... and what he wants is Rebecca.
The book is written in dual POV which is great because you get to understand what both characters are thinking. It is also co-written by two fabulously talented authors. The supporting characters steal the show in my opinion with their flamboyant personalities and not too subtle matchmaking attempts. I totally loved Rebecca's fun loving drag queen roommate Chaz and Cade's equally colourful brother Trent.
I totally recommend this book for anyone that just wants a fun, fast totally satisfying read. 4.5 Stars.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up The Last Guy. I find the writing collaborations can go either way - they can flow seamlessly, or they can feel jumpy.
The Last Guy is the first, you wouldn't know that it was two different authors writing the POVs
Rebecca and Cade are great in this office romance (with a bit of enemies to lovers thrown in for good measure)
They say you shouldn't dip your nib in the office ink, but there is just something about Cade, the sexy new sports guy that Rebecca can't stop thinking about - though not always in a sexy manner!
Cade - gosh, what a sweetie this guy is. He is cute and adorable and totally doable! I love not only what he does for his "Stone" Rebecca, but for what other things he does.
Now, it may be just that I have binge watched 7 seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race, but I loved the referenced to it throughout the book.
I did get a little fed up with a secondary character - or two - that kept popping up and causing trouble for our duo. And then one or the other of the duo going off half-cocked about the troublemakers. It just felt a little superfluous after the first few times.
But that probably just bothers me.
The Last Guy is cute and sweet and sexy, and it made me want a big burly footballer of my own.
Fight you for him - I win!

LOVED it! This story is AMAZING! Given there are two authors the book is seemless and the narrative is a perfect blend between the two writing styles! Rebecca wants the top job. To be THE anchor. Cade is the ex NFL player. The chemistry is just simmering between them. Encouraged by her roommate Chas they go to a drag show at the Pussycat Club she is surprised to come across Cade. Cade is there because of his brother. After shots they discover that they have a lot in common! Next morning Rebecca is determined that nothing happened between them. At work things go from bad to worse for her. Her boss wants her off camera and in production. Her assignments cover child beauty pageants, and a pet zoo. It's at the pet zoo where a monkey grabs more than it should and things go bad for her. This is such an awesome story so much humour where you can just laugh out loud or just have a happy smile in face, such colourful characters including a random Klingon speaking date, a drag queen and a brother with a heart of pure gold. There are some sexy steamy scenes that will melt the Kindle! I loved this story, it was compelling and thoroughly entertaining! Recommended!!

"The Last Guy" was an enjoyable romp of a book with really likeable leads in Rebecca and Cade.
It's set in the newsroom of a leading local television station and the author has done a great job of creating the scene for the cutthroat world that forms the background for our lovebirds romance. Rebecca is a reporter/journalist who, after delivering stellar on the job news items for a number of years, is vying for the job of weekend co-anchor of the evening news. Cade, seemingly on the back of a NFL football career and with no journalistic experience, has just walked into the sports anchor role at the station. At first there is some resentment but sparks soon fly and our romance is off and running with some hilarity and of course, drama, on the way.
For lovers of a lighthearted romance, "The Last Guy" is a fun read and I would definitely recommend it.

5 Solid Cade and Rebecca Stars

What a gorgeous book! The cover and blurb on this book grabbed my attention and the fabulous writing, characters and story line kept me with my nose in this book until the early hours. Then, despite sleep deprivation I was straight into it again the next day. I couldn't put this one down.
Rebecca is an awesome heroine. She made me laugh, cry, sigh and had me desperately rooting for her when all the cards seemed stacked against her. She is hilarious at times but that is tempered with her determination, honesty and dedication to her job. She is so likeable.
Cade is a former NFL superstar turned sports anchor for the same TV Network that Rebecca works for. There is some seriously intense chemistry between these two and eventually the inevitable happens and they have one hot night together....but will one night be enough?? Hell no....
Fantastic secondary characters, a fast paced plot and a swoonworthy love story gives this book the edge over many similar in this genre. It is sexy, sweet and funny - perfect for a lighter read but I still had tears in my eyes at times because I really felt for Becks.
I really hope these two authors collaborate again because the pages in this book practically crackled and shimmered with a special kind of energy that kept me hooked to the very end.
HEA? OMG! This is one of the loveliest epilogues ever. Cade and Rebecca are made for each other.
Cheating? No. Cade has a slightly bonkers and very clingy ex who keeps trying to wangle her way back to him but that ship had long since sailed

OKAY BUT ENDED TOO QUICKLY

I really liked this story to begin with about Cade and Rebecca (Stone to him) who worked together at a TV news station and there is definitely a lot of humour, a good deal of great sex and some drama too but for me it ended far too quickly and was pretty predictable. I prefer more drama in my books and this was just lacking plus I didn't like the naff title. Cade has an ex in the story who at the beginning seems to be around quite a bit trying to get back with him which I thought would have made an interesting story as I love the jealousy element but that didn't materialise into much which was disappointing.

Loved this book

This book had all of the right ingredients for me. An intelligent, hard working, fun loving woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to work for it and a confident but non-douche, gorgeous guy who is also hard working and fun loving.
I loved how the whole back drop was in a news room and for the first time in ages I laughed out loud at a book while reading the petting zoo scene.
Great, fun book!

An Okay Read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 July 2017Verified Purchase
This was an okay read. The only reason it is a 3 star read and not more is the book lacked some dramatic tension. I felt it was obvious what was going to happen. I enjoyed reading the story from dual point of views and the characters were likable.
