Robert Bryndza has become an author that I don't even need to read the blurb for his book I just one click auto-buy it. The Erika Foster series is one of my all time favourites.
'Last Breath' is the fourth book in the Erika Foster series and just like the other books in the series, this one does not disappoint. A woman's savagely beaten body with her femoral artery lacerated was found in a dumpster. Erika is one of the first responders on the scene even though she is no longer on the Murder Investigation Team and begins investigating despite the fact she is supposed to be in a desk job pushing papers.
While digging for information, Erika uncovers a similar case and begins to piece together the likelihood of a serial killer. An evil serial killer is stalking his victims online, this in itself makes this a very original and relevant read. Creating fake profiles and luring them in... it's so relevant to today and the number of so called "friends" you have online, or randoms you meet it really does make you think.
With another girl gone missing and time running out, she is pushing hard to connect the few clues with the hopes of saving this young woman's life.
While Bryndza continues his character development, we encounter a softer, more vulnerable Erika and it appears that her future looks promising. While I feel that you could pick up the story easily enough if you have not read the previous books in the series, I would warn that there is some great character development you'd probably miss if read out of order however with that being said I can't recommend the series enough for the fans of a great police procedural series.
Another compelling page turner. 5 Stars.
