4.0 out of 5 stars Adorable Quickie 1 December 2014

Super quick short story. This is about Ellen's friend Rachel, the one with the cute little beagle. Fun little Valentine'd Day blind date tale. Not a lot of depth in the relationship, really just the first blush of something that could be special.

The whole book is from Rachel's POV, which limits how the reader seeing events. You only have her perspective to work from. Fortunately there are plenty of cues that you can pick up on to give you the bigger picture.

It is all sweet, a light flirtation but it never gets to the bedroom stage.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Martha Lee, who does a great job. She has a soothing mature tone to her read but is still able to bring out the lightness in the banter. I really liked her voices and how distinct she keeps them. I really enjoy the energy she creates with her voice it makes the story flow.

I am excited to have found this series. I love a tasty little treat every now and again!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hallmark Holiday Blind Date? 24 December 2015

This series must be read in order. The first book is Love At First Date. The second book is Truth Or Date. This is the third book. I can't wait to read Save The Date!

Rachel has truly been unlucky in love. She spent over two whole years with a guy, fighting to make it work, while he was giving it to her hairdresser on the side. Then every blind date she has been on turned into a disaster by at least the second date. The smart thing to do would be to resign herself to life with her dog Chester... And ONLY Chester. But when her office crush tells her to go on the blind date she decides to give it one last shot. Will her date be the man of her dreams or her worst nightmare? Why does she not have the guts to just try for Noah? What does she have to lose?

***This fun *short* chiclit series is suitable for young adult through adult readers who enjoy *clean* romance and offbeat humor :)

I liked the first one of this series, so much I bought this one. And the audible version of it so I could listen when I am driving.
This story is about ten minutes long to read and I feel a bit bothered that I paid for it and the audio version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review: My Last Blind Date by Susan Hatler 22 October 2012

This was a great story. My second of Hatler's that I've read and now I want to read all of her work. It was a light romantic read. The character's were great and well developed for a short story. I was left very content at the end which is also a plus.

I was left with a smile on my face after debating what was going to happen next with Rachel in her search, or lack there of, for romance.

If you're looking for something quick and heartwarming, this might be a good story to check out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Valentine's Day Short Story 2 February 2013
By Sophia Rose - Published on

This sassy little Valentine's Day short pacts a punch. For all its brevity, I was still able to get into the story, appreciate the humor and love the characters.

Its Valentine's Day and Rachel's friend wishes- yet again- to set her up on a blind date. Ellen's track record for unsuccess is batting a thousand. Ellen found happiness and just wants the same for her friend. She's willing to beg and connive to do it. Rachel cringes at the thought of going on another date, but she is also saddened to think that all she has to look forward to is a date with 'Sex in the City' re-runs while cuddled up to her dog on the couch.

Then salt in the wound is to observe Noah, the guy she has been dreamy over, tell a gorgeous co-worker that he has big plans for the evening. This dashes her dreams of anything with Noah other than to be office friends. So why not go out on that date she reasons.

It was enjoyable and I was tickled to discover that my home town was the backdrop. This short piece could be read in a few minutes and would be great for those who want some sweet romance and very little time to read. This was my first time reading this author and I'm definitely going back for more particularly Ellen's story which is available too.
