Overly simplistic household "tips" book with gorgeous photos and ideas. The Swedish concept of Lagom is fascinating to me culturally, and I was hoping to read more about it as a concept and value system. Instead I feel like this book just reinforced the same old organizational stuff that can be gleaned from any old book or magazine. I quickly grew tired of the overuse of sentences like "Swedish people have an innate ability to..." followed with things like: simplify, organize, cook in season, etc. I would suspect that lagom is a culturally taught concept--not an innate ability (isn't that why someone from a different culture may pick up this book, to learn a fresh and different perspective?) It's a pleasant book to thumb through, but I won't be keeping it for long.

The sections include suggestions, examples, and recipes. You will likely have heard many of the concepts before, so this book is for those seeking balance and inspired by reading about lifestyle theory. This is not a memoir.

Reading this book felt like a cozy hug, because I'm Swedish and could relate to so much in the book. My partner is not Swedish and sometimes the subtle cultural differences (obvious to me) get annoying, so reading this book to him helped show him there are other cultures or ways of thinking besides his, even if he doesn't agree with it.
